Wine lover since 2001! My interest in wine began while touring the factory where they printed the LCBO VINTAGES magazine.
Over time, my passion for wine grew. Now, I am highly regarded by friends and colleagues as a resource for when they need a wine for that special occasion, be it an anniversary, birthday, wedding, gatherings at home, or when they want to impress their special friend or the In-Laws.
Combining my interest in the Internet/web/computers, you can find me at https://vintagewinepicks.blogspot.com where you will find more wine reviews, events and contests.

Segura Viudas Heredad Reserva Brut Cava, Traditional Method, Do, Penedès, Spain
Penedès, Spain$39.95
A blend of 75% Macabeo and 25% Chardonnay, this has a lovely, fragrant, medium-high to highly aromatic nose that leads with leesy mineral and savoury aromas, followed by pretty, white cherry, raspberry, strawberry, and brioche notes. The elegant, medium-full bodied palate has a fine mousse and lovely lemon citrusy, white cherry, strawberry, raspberry, and brioche flavour replays with a kiss of attractive sweetness. There's a touch of minerality on the mid-palate, while the rest of the flavours come through on the long, balanced, and elegant finish. Tasted Sept. 2023.
Jansz Premium Sparkling Rosé, Traditional Method, Tasmania
Tasmania, Australia$28.95
Medium-high intensity nose of cherry, strawberry, currant and ripe red berry aromas. Pleasing ripe red berry replays on the palate with fine mousse, fresh acids, and a touch creamy texture. Excellent length on the long, persistent finish. Tasted Feb/2019. Score: 90+ pts
Blue Mountain Gold Label Brut Sparkling, Traditional Method, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia
British Columbia, Canada$29.25
Blend of 50% Pinot Noir, 45.5% Chardonnay, and 4.5% Pinot Gris. Highly aromatic nose has biscuity, pastry, citrus, and grapefruit aromas with hints of melon. Fresh, crisp acids and fine mousse with lovely aroma replays on the dry palate. Long, crisp finish. Tasted May/2019.
Grant Burge Filsell Old Vine Shiraz 2008, Barossa
South Australia, Australia$29.95
2010 vintage. This is a big wine with aromas of ripe dark fruits, blueberry, violet and lavender. Lovely blueberry with hints of coffee and vanilla on the palate. Full-bodied. Drinkable now, but has enough tannic grip to let sit for another 2-3 years. Tasted May/2012.
Terredora Loggia Della Serra Greco Di Tufo 2009, Docg
Campania, Italy$19.95
Lime, minerals, flowers and wet earth aromas all come through on the palate. Well integrated. Dry and delicious. Creamy long finish (even the bottle was creamy, for some strange reason. LOL.) Very highly recommended if you like dry white wines. Tasted Aug/2011.
Domaine Piron Lameloise Quartz Chenas 2009, Ac
Beaujolais, France$22.50
Nose seemed rather closed but shows black fruits and violet aromas. Medium-bodied with flavours of red fruits, cranberry and sour cherry. Finish is short-medium in length. Structured, big tannins will reward ageing 1-2 years.
Tasted May/2013 with other Beaujolais BBQ wines listed here:

Heartland Shiraz 2008, Langhorne Creek/Limestone Coast, South Australia
South Australia, Australia$19.95
Warm aromas of mint, eucalyptus, wet earth. Flavours of sweet red fruits (raspberry and cherry), herbs, pepper. Medium-bodied. Screw-top. Very uncomplicated.
Chateau Des Charmes Cabernet Franc 2007, St. David's Bench, Niagara
Ontario, Canada$25.95
2010 vintage. Vanillan oak and dark fruit aromas. Spicy pepper and dark fruits on the palate with big, chewy tannins and finishing long. Tasted June 2012.
Pascual Toso Reserve Malbec 2009, Barrancas Vineyards, Mendoza
Mendoza, Argentina$19.95
Earthy, mulberry and dark fruit aromas from the cork. In the glass, aromas of savoury spice lead to mulberry, bramble, vanilla and all surrounded by an earthy core. Full bodied on the palate with more mulberry and bramble replays, some earthy notes. Hints of milk chocolate and espresso on the long finish. Ripe fruit with mouth-watering acidity. Smooth tannins are well-integrated. Will be enjoyed with Chicken lasagne. Tasted Sept/2012.
