Wine lover since 2001! My interest in wine began while touring the factory where they printed the LCBO VINTAGES magazine.

Over time, my passion for wine grew. Now, I am highly regarded by friends and colleagues as a resource for when they need a wine for that special occasion, be it an anniversary, birthday, wedding, gatherings at home, or when they want to impress their special friend or the In-Laws.

Combining my interest in the Internet/web/computers, you can find me at https://vintagewinepicks.blogspot.com where you will find more wine reviews, events and contests.

Valore Di Famiglia Gran Selezione Chianti Classico 2018, Docg
Tuscany, Italy

This pure Sangiovese has a fresh, open, and a touch maturing nose of red cherry, wet earth, mushroom, desiccated cherry, and dried floral aromas. On the dry, medium-full bodied palate, it has delicious aroma replays that echo on the palate in a maturing flavour profile. It has well-balanced acidity and creamy tannins. A touch hot on the mid-palate, while the finish is long, savoury, and sweet spiced. Tasted Oct. 2023.

The fresh, bright nose is fruit forward with dark red cherry aromas nuanced with spices and dark minerals of medium-high intensity. On the dry, medium-full bodied palate it has structured and grippy tannins and lovely dark cherry, red berry, spice, and mineral flavours. Lively acids are juicy and well-balanced. Lovely curranty, cassis, and spice notes linger on the long, crisp, and well-balanced finish. Tasted May 2024.

Pours a mature golden yellow colour. Mature nose of medium-high intensity with aromas of wax, honey, citrus, and peach. It's medium+ bodied and off-dry with honeyed, citrusy, and peach flavours. Acids are a bit low, but still well-balanced. Pleasant, chalky-textured mouthfeel. Waxy, citrus, and mineral oil notes linger on the long, lip-smacking finish. Tasted Sept. 2022.

Blend of 40% Pinot Noir, 40% Meunier, and 20% Chardonnay, this medium to medium+ intensity nose is elegant, yet seems a bit shy, with aromas of citrus, lemon, brioche, orange, and peach. A blend of 49% Pinot Noir, 40% Chardonnay, and 11% Pinot Meunier, this has a medium-high intensity, fragrant nose that has biscuity, brioche, autolytic, and bready notes with hints of lemon citrus very typical of Champagne. The palate is nice and crisp with lime acidity and flavours of lemon, citrus, and autolytic notes with a touch of honey that offers a kiss of sweetness. Long finishing with crisp citrus notes.
