Wine lover since 2001! My interest in wine began while touring the factory where they printed the LCBO VINTAGES magazine.
Over time, my passion for wine grew. Now, I am highly regarded by friends and colleagues as a resource for when they need a wine for that special occasion, be it an anniversary, birthday, wedding, gatherings at home, or when they want to impress their special friend or the In-Laws.
Combining my interest in the Internet/web/computers, you can find me at https://vintagewinepicks.blogspot.com where you will find more wine reviews, events and contests.

Tawse Estate Chardonnay 2010, VQA Twenty Mile Bench
Ontario, Canada$34.95
Blend of grapes from 3 different vineyards that practice organic and biodynamic farming. Intense apple, butter and pear aromas. Light-to-medium bodied with very lively acidity. Apple and pear replays, with under current of minerals and some floral notes. Long finish. Tasted Jan/2013.
Hidden Bench Estate Pinot Noir 2010, VQA Beamsville Bench, Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$40.00
Medium-high intensity aromas that exude elegant notes of smoke, beetroot, cherry and florals. Aroma replays with ripe red fruits leading the way on the palate. Medium-bodied mouthfeel with integrated tannins and balanced throughout. The finish is medium-long and smooth. My kind of Pinot. Gorgeous. Tasted Nov/2013.
Vieil Armand Médaille Gewurztraminer 2010, Ac Alsace
Alsace, France$17.95
Gentle and inviting aromas of lychee and orange citrus. Medium-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel, the palate consists of aromas replays of lychee and orange. It's medium-sweet, but the lively acidity balances the sweetness very well. Balanced thoughout with a long finish. Delicious! Tasted Nov/2012.
Château Coufran 2010, A.C. Haut Médoc
Bordeaux, France$43.95
Richly aromatic nose is fragrant, sweet spiced & maturing w/ lovely bouquet of stewed dark berries & Damson plums, dried floral & cherries, leather & forest floor. Full-ish bodied palate offers maturing flavours of dark berry, red & black cherry, fine sweet spices, some dried cherry & florals, savoury forest floor & leather. Acids are juicy & succulent. Fine, dusty textured tannins are structured & still a few more years away from fully resolving. Intriguing salty & leafy herb notes on mid-palate. Complex & still evolving, w/ dried cherry & mineral notes on long, juicy finish. Tasted Dec. 2023.
Cave De Roquebrun La Grange Des Combes Saint Chinian Roquebrun 2010, Ac
Languedoc, France$18.95
Blend of 50% Syrah, 30% Grenache, and 20% Mourvèdre. It was raised in stainless steel tanks and bottled unfiltered. Fragrant earthy, smoky, savoury, meaty nose accented by peppery spice, black cherry, and touches of floral aromas. It is almost full bodied on the lively palate with savoury dark cherry, mineral, smoke, garrigue, blackberry flavours. Acids are still quite fresh, while firm, gritty tannins are chalky and drying. Garrigue, pepper, savoury, and mineral notes linger on the fine, long finish. A pleasure to drink, but tannins are starting to overpower the fruit. Tasted Oct. 2018.
Huff Estates South Bay Chardonnay 2010, VQA Prince Edward County
Ontario, Canada$23.75
Light mineral, pear and floral aromas. Medium bodied with vibrant acidity on the palate along with very ripe, green, tropical, herbal fruit flavours. Subtle oak. Medium-long finish. Pleasant and relatively easy drinking. Tasted Apr/2013.
Stag's Leap Wine Cellars Artemis Cabernet Sauvignon 2010, Napa Valley
California, Usa$69.95
Blend of 88% Cab Sauv and 12% Merlot. Nicely balanced oak and chocolate aromas. Medium-full bodied with blackcurrant and violet on the palate. Very smooth and round. Tannins are integrated and overall is a well-balanced red. Tasted Dec/2012.
Chimney Rock Cabernet Sauvignon 2008, Stags Leap District, Napa Valley
California, Usa$99.95
Leather and spice dominate the aroma profile, with undertones of bramble, violet and sweet vanillan. Well-integrated tannins with finish that is spicy with chocolate & mocha notes. Delicious. Tasted Dec/2012.
Vollenweider Wolfer Riesling 2011
Mosel, Germany$17.25
Light floral aromas from the cork. Delicate slate, apricot, peach and hints of honey and lemon rind aromas. Slightly off-dry with a spritz that subdues the sweetness. Flavour notes of slate, beeswax, lemon peel and orange rind. Good acidity and a finish that is long and slatey with a beeswax-tinged finish. Nice! Enjoyed this with one of my favourite Indian comfort foods - homemade chicken curry. Tasted June/2013.
Mission Hill Compendium 2009, BC VQA Osoyoos, Okanagan Valley
British Columbia, Canada$50.00
Bordeaux blend of 40% Cab Sauv, 35% Merlot, 20% Cab Franc and 5% Petit Verdot. Medium-high intensity aromas of herbal, pepper, oak, dark fruits and sour cherry. Palate is medium-full bodied with flavours of black currant, black fruit, cedar, and vanillan. Subtle spice on the mid-palate continues on the very long, smooth, and silky finish. This red wine has food-friendly acidity and velvety tannins. Tasted Sept/2013.
