Wine lover since 2001! My interest in wine began while touring the factory where they printed the LCBO VINTAGES magazine.
Over time, my passion for wine grew. Now, I am highly regarded by friends and colleagues as a resource for when they need a wine for that special occasion, be it an anniversary, birthday, wedding, gatherings at home, or when they want to impress their special friend or the In-Laws.
Combining my interest in the Internet/web/computers, you can find me at https://vintagewinepicks.blogspot.com where you will find more wine reviews, events and contests.

Maturana Puente Austral Reserva Privada Carmenère 2022, Valle De Colchagua
Colchagua Valley, Chile$12.75
The fragrant, medium+ to medium-high intensity nose is ripe and spicy with red plum, cassis, currant, and black cherry aromas with earthy and herbaceous undertones. The ripe, rounded, and medium-full bodied palate is dry with plummy, black cherry, currant, cassis, spice, and earthy replays. It has crisp acids, while the tannins are smooth and rounded with a fine, dusty texture. Mildly grippy on the back palate, while savoury earth and touches of plum and cherry notes linger on the crisp finish, with good length. Tasted Feb. 2025. Score: 88+ pts
Boutari Naoussa Xinomavro 2021, P.D.O. Naoussa, Macedonia
Naoussa, Greece$19.95
The medium+ to medium-high intensity nose has maturing aromas of dried dark red cherry and rose floral with woody, savoury earth, and cinnamon accents, plus whiffs of fresh lemon citrus. On the dry, medium-full to full-bodied palate it has a lovely, maturing flavour profile of dried cherry, floral, oak spice, cinnamon, and earthy replays, plus some sour cherry notes. It's supported by juicy, lemony-sour acidity, alongside medium-firm structured tannins. Savoury earth, mineral, and cinnamon notes linger on the long, fairly firm, sour-edged, and juicy finish. Tasted Mar. 2025.

This blend of Grenache Noir and Syrah has a fragrant, medium-high intensity nose of lovely wild red cherry, garrigue, black pepper spice, and dark red cherry aromas nuanced with Mediterranean herbs and stony minerals. It's medium+ bodied and dry on the with very nice, balanced aroma replays, if very ripe, with notable stony mineral and black pepper spice notes. It has nicely balanced with crisp and juicy acids, alongside light, fine grained tannins. The finish length is very good with stony mineral, red berry, and garrigue notes. Tasted May 2025. Born Rambla Rosé 2024, Penedès
Penedès, Spain$16.95
This 60/40 blend of Grenache and Tempranillo is a touch shy on the nose, offering citrus, orange, and grapefruit aromas with whiffs of earthy mineral and savoury Mediterranean herbs. It's medium-full bodied on the dry palate with very good weight and concentration supported by well-balanced and slightly tangy acidity. The juicy mid-palate has more citrusy, grapefruit, and red berry flavours, all of which are joined by blood orange notes on the finish, with very good length. Tasted May 2025. Score: 88+ pts

La Posta Pizzella Family Malbec 2018, Mendoza
Mendoza, Argentina$16.95
The soft nose is ripe and plummy with blackberry, mulberry, and peppery spice notes along with a streak of stony mineral. It's soft and rounded on the medium-full bodied palate with oak-influenced flavours of dark berry and earth with a touch of sweetness. Acids are well-balanced while light tannins are well-integrated with a mild grip. Savoury and earthy notes linger on the finish, with good length. A casual, entry-level Malbec that has wide appeal. Tasted Dec/2020.
Frind Big Red 2018, BC VQA Okanagan Valley
British Columbia, Canada$26.54
Merlot, Cabernet Franc & Cabernet Sauvignon. The medium+ intensity nose is ripe and plummy with a mix of red and black fruits, red cherry, and touches of cedary wood & stemmy characters. On the medium-bodied palate it has delicious ripe cassis, black cherry, blackberry, plummy, and sweet wood spice flavours supported by fresh, well-balanced acidity and supple, structured and slightly chalky tannins. Some minty herbals and leafy notes add complexity on the mid-palate. Juicy & succulent with cedar wood spice and savoury cocoa notes lingering on the finish, with very good length. Tasted Nov/2021.
