Wine lover since 2001! My interest in wine began while touring the factory where they printed the LCBO VINTAGES magazine.
Over time, my passion for wine grew. Now, I am highly regarded by friends and colleagues as a resource for when they need a wine for that special occasion, be it an anniversary, birthday, wedding, gatherings at home, or when they want to impress their special friend or the In-Laws.
Combining my interest in the Internet/web/computers, you can find me at https://vintagewinepicks.blogspot.com where you will find more wine reviews, events and contests.

Flat Rock Chardonnay 2008, VQA Twenty Mile Bench, Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$16.95
A screw-top, so no smelling of the cork. Apple, toasty oak and mineral aromatics. Citrus and not over-bearing oak on the palate. Light-medium bodied with a long tropical finish. Quite tasty. Tasted Oct/2011.
Smoky, oak aromas. Palate has ripe fruits with oak nuances balanced throughout along hints of tropical fruit sweetness. Full-bodied and very smooth. Tasted June 2012.
Red Shot Lane Pinot Noir 2009, Willamette Valley
Oregon, Usa$18.95
Not a fan of plastic corks, but good aromas emanating from it. Freshly tilled earth, cherry, toast, smoke aromas. Strawberry, cherry, and some light spiciness at mid-length on the palate. Light- to medium-bodied. Slightly chewy tannins on medium-long finish. Tasted Dec/2011.
Gehringer Brothers Private Reserve Pinot Gris 2009, VQA Okanagan Valley
British Columbia, Canada$18.95
Apple and honey aromas faded quickly from cork. Mineral, earth, grapefruit aromas from the glass. More grapefruit on the palate + citrus notes. Dry. If you like dry Pinot Gris, then you will probably like this one; beware of the acidity, which I found a bit strong. Tasted Nov/2011.
Thorn Clarke Terra Barossa Shiraz 2009, Barossa Valley, South Australia
South Australia, Australia$16.95
Big aromas of lush blackberry, blueberry, earth, mint and pepper. Dark fruit flavours, dark chocolate, turning a bit spicy at mid-palate. Full-bodied, chewy. Dry. Ageable, but ready to drink now. Well-made Shiraz, but is bit too bitter for my taste. Tasted Oct/2011 and better on 2nd day.
Sol De Andes Reserva Chardonnay 2009, Casablanca Valley
Casablanca Valley, Chile$14.95
Cork smells of gorgeous guava, pineapple, tropical fruit aromas. More guava and tropical fruit from the glass. Very aromatic. Buttered popcorn, pear on the palate. Full-bodied white. Nice structure. If you like Chardonnays, this is one to try! Tasted Nov/2011.
Two Oceans Sauvignon Blanc 2011
South Africa$9.95
Screw-top cap (which doesn't necessarily mean cheap or low quality). Classic gooseberry, grass, nettle aromas, with a touch of mineral, petrol and melon. Gooseberry, kiwi, lemon/lime citrus on the palate. Off-dry and quite the nice sipper. Provides really good value at this price point. Tasted Jan/2012.
Hat Trick White 2011, VQA Ontario
Ontario, Canada$6.45
Mostly tropical fruits, citrus aromas, with some melon. Manuka honey with more tropical fruits on the palate. Finishes dry with a crisp seam of acidity, almost lip-smacking. Well-balanced. Medium-bodied. Quite nice for $12.95. Tasted May/2012.
Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais Villages 2010
Burgundy, France$11.95
Aromas are very fruit forward and of medium-high intensity - bing cherry and strawberry come to mind. More red fruits on the soft palate. Medium-level tannins and balanced overall with hints of spice on the finish.
Tasted May/2013 with other Beaujolais BBQ wines listed here:

Niagara College Teaching Winery Dean's List Cabernet Franc 2009, Niagara
Ontario, Canada$27.95
Inaugural vintage? Jammy red fruits, cranberry and some wood smoke and plum aromas. Full bodied and quite smooth with red fruit and plum on the palate. Ripe tannins. Well-made. Tasted Sept/2012.
Inniskillin Winemaker's Series Two Vineyards Riesling 2010, VQA Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$14.75
Screw cap. Fresh mineral, lemon, pear aromas, along with hints of honey and petrol. Tangy with grapefruit and lemon-lime zesty acidity, mineral, leads to an off-dry, bumpy finish that bounces between honey and slate notes. Tasted July 2012.
