Wine lover since 2001! My interest in wine began while touring the factory where they printed the LCBO VINTAGES magazine.
Over time, my passion for wine grew. Now, I am highly regarded by friends and colleagues as a resource for when they need a wine for that special occasion, be it an anniversary, birthday, wedding, gatherings at home, or when they want to impress their special friend or the In-Laws.
Combining my interest in the Internet/web/computers, you can find me at https://vintagewinepicks.blogspot.com where you will find more wine reviews, events and contests.

Montebuena Cuvée K P F 2019, Doca Rioja
Rioja, Spain$17.95
100% Tempranillo. Screw cap. The medium+ intensity nose is very ripe with dark red cherry, black cherry, sweet spice and sandalwood aromas. On the medium bodied palate it has smooth, lightly textured tannins and fresh, lively acidity with ripe, plummy flavours of dark red cherry, black cherry, and savoury wood spice. Very good length on the savoury, earthy, and juicy finish. Tasted Nov/2021.
Cr Gold 5 Monastrell/Syrah 2019, Dop Jumilla
Murcia, Spain$14.75
A 50/50 blend of Monastrell and Syrah. The medium+ intensity nose is rich and swarthy with ripe, dark fruited aromas of blackberry, black plum, purple fruit, and peppery spice. On the weighty, medium-full bodied palate it has intriguing, fruit-forward purple and black fruits mingling with pepper spice, savoury wood, and cocoa flavours. Acids are fresh and juicy, while the smooth, youthful tannins have a slightly chalky texture. Tangy notes on the mid-palate linger through to the savoury, cocoa, and cedary spiced finish, with very good length. Tasted Nov/2021. Score: 88+ pts.
Tedeschi Capitel Nicalò Valpolicella Superiore 2019, Doc
Veneto, Italy$19.95
A blend of 35% Corvina, 35% Corvinone, 20% Rondinella, and 10% Rossignola / Oseleta / Negrara / Dindarella, the medium-high intensity offers stewed & dried dark berry, black cherry & plum aromas mingling with spices and earthy wood notes. It has good weight on the spicy, medium-bodied palate with more stewed black cherry, currant, plum, wood spice, and earthy notes in a dry flavour profile that's lifted by fresh, lively acidity. Supple tannins have a nice, slightly chalky texture. Very good length with wood spice, stewed berries & faint mineral notes lingering on the finish. Tasted Dec/2021.

Bordeaux, France$18.95
This blend of 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon has an open and fragrant nose with lovely dark fruited aromas of blackberry, black plum, currant, cassis, wood spice, and vanilla with savoury undertones. On the ripe, medium-full bodied, and structured palate it has dark berry, blackberry, leather, and wood spice flavours, with a hint of jammy notes. Fresh acids are juicy and well-balanced, while the structured tannins are youthful. Savoury, earthy, and cocoa notes linger on the long, drying finish. Tasted Nov/2021.
Fattoria Di Piazzano Ventoso Sangiovese 2019, I.G.T. Toscana
Tuscany, Italy$17.00
Mainly Sangiovese with Canaiolo, Malvasia Nera, and Trebbiano completing the blend, the fragrant nose has funky barnyard and earthy notes off the top, layered over red flowers, red cherry, blackberry, and forest floor aromas. On the medium+ bodied palate it is rustic and savoury with wet earth, red & black fruited, and clove flavours supported by fresh, well-balanced acidity and fine-grained, lightly grippy tannins. Juicy with earthy, savoury, clove, and cocoa notes linger on the long, persistent finish. Really quite nice in a rustic, savoury profile. Tasted Jan/2022.
San Raffaele Pinot Grigio 2020, Doc Delle Venezie
Veneto, Italy$15.95
Organic and vegan-friendly. Screw cap. Clean, fresh, and generous aromas of orchard fruit, pear, lemon citrus, and melon, along with mineral undertones and a whiff of herb. It's medium+ bodied with good concentration on the lightly honeyed, yet dry palate with crisp, refreshing acidity lifting the apple, pear, lemon citrus, and melon flavours. Juicy, slightly spicy on the mid-palate, and nicely balanced with fine leesy mineral notes lingering on the finish, with very good length. Tasted Jan/2022.
Francis Ford Coppola Diamond Red Blend 2018
California, Usa$28.95
Fragrant nose offers a lush array of ripe black, dark red, and purple fruit aromas mingling with vanillin oak, and spices. It's full-bodied with slightly jammy black and red fruits such as blackberry and cherry, along with spice, and vanillin oak flavours in a pleasingly dry flavour profile. Although there is a touch of warmth, it's still well-balanced with good acidity, and smooth, dusty textured, and moderately grippy tannins. Woody, earthy, and milk chocolate notes linger on the finish, with very good length. Tasted Jan/2022.
Humberto Canale Patagonia Intimo Malbec 2019, Rio Negro, Patagonia
Patagonia, Argentina$12.25
Organic. Medium-high intensity nose has stony mineral aromas layered over dark red cherry, spice, and touches of ripe plum which also reveal floral and candied cherry hints with time in the glass. It's medium+ bodied and slightly warming on the palate with dark red cherry, spices, and smoky mineral with hints of licorice on the flavour profile. Acids are fresh and juicy, while the tannins are supple and fine-grained. Minerally and slightly spicy on the juicy finish, with very good length. Tasted Feb/2022. Score: 88+ pts

It has good weight on the dry, medium+ bodied palate with fresh, zippy acidity lifting the ripe lemon, citrus, apple, white peach, leesy mineral, and grapefruit flavours with a touch of wood spice. Nieto Senetiner Don Nicanor Malbec 2018, Mendoza
Mendoza, Argentina$13.75
The medium-high intensity nose is quite attractive with violets, ripe black fruit, blackberry, spice, and dark plums with subtle mineral notes rising out of the glass. On the dry, chewy, medium-full bodied palate it has salty mineral and peppery spice notes that join the black fruit, blackberry, and violet flavours. Acids are juicy and well-balanced, while the salty, smooth, and fine-grained tannins have a pleasant, slightly chalky textured grip. Minerally and slightly chalky on the finish, with very good length. Tasted Apr. 2022.
