Wine lover since 2001! My interest in wine began while touring the factory where they printed the LCBO VINTAGES magazine.

Over time, my passion for wine grew. Now, I am highly regarded by friends and colleagues as a resource for when they need a wine for that special occasion, be it an anniversary, birthday, wedding, gatherings at home, or when they want to impress their special friend or the In-Laws.

Combining my interest in the Internet/web/computers, you can find me at https://vintagewinepicks.blogspot.com where you will find more wine reviews, events and contests.

Glenelly Estate Reserve Red Blend 2011, Wo Stellenbosch Bottle
Glenelly Estate Reserve Red Blend 2011, Wo Stellenbosch
Stellenbosch, South Africa
$19.95

Blend of 40% Syrah, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, and 10% Petit Verdot. Maturing red-brown colour. Generous aromas of roasted red pepper, savoury, spice, cocoa, and blackberry from the glass. The full-bodied palate offers cassis, cocoa, pepper, and savoury notes with some complexity. Fine tannins are smooth, while acids are very good. There's some grip on the long finish. Tasted Mar/2019.

Blend of 87% Tempranillo and 13% Cabernet Sauvignon, this has a medium+ intensity nose of red berries, cherry, sweet oak spice, and some new wood. The palate is medium-bodied with nice aroma replays. It has soft tannins with a plush mouthfeel and balanced acidity. Finish length is very good. Tasted Mar/2019.

Spicy, dark berry, minty, and peppery aromas, with much of the same on the medium-full bodied palate, plus subtle oak flavours. It is supple and smooth, with refined tannins and balanced acidity. The finish length is very good. Tasted Feb/2019.

Blend of 72% Sauvignon Blanc and 28% Chenin Blanc. Not very aromatic, but the medium bodied palate is creamy, viscous, and nicely textured with minerally, graphite, iron and herbally flavours. Acids are well-balanced while the finish is clean with very good length. Tasted Apr/2019.
