Wine lover since 2001! My interest in wine began while touring the factory where they printed the LCBO VINTAGES magazine.
Over time, my passion for wine grew. Now, I am highly regarded by friends and colleagues as a resource for when they need a wine for that special occasion, be it an anniversary, birthday, wedding, gatherings at home, or when they want to impress their special friend or the In-Laws.
Combining my interest in the Internet/web/computers, you can find me at https://vintagewinepicks.blogspot.com where you will find more wine reviews, events and contests.

Casa Dea Pinot Noir 2013, VQA Prince Edward County
Ontario, Canada$21.95
Medium-intensity nose with aromas of red cherry, gentle oak spice, raspberry, and hints of barnyard funk. It's lightweighted on the palate with pleasing aroma replays, good acids, and some minerality on the medium-long finish. Tasted Apr/2017.
Karlo Estates Cabernet Franc 2015, VQA Prince Edward County
Ontario, Canada$31.75
The fragrant nose offers a lovely, complex, and maturing nose of dried berry compote, spice, and savoury earthy aromas with touches of floral. On the light-to-medium bodied palate it has fine, tart, juicy acidity that frames the dark berry compote, sweet tobacco, earthy, savoury, and sandalwood spice flavours in a somewhat mature profile. Smooth, fine-grained tannins are fold into the wine very nicely, with some grip on the back palate. It's well-balanced throughout with savoury wet earth, tobacco, and maturing berry flavours on the long finish. In a lovely place right now. Tasted Jan/2021.
Foris Pinot Blanc 2015, Estate Grown, Rogue Valley
Oregon, Usa$19.25
The medium-intensity nose offers clean mineral, lemon, citrus and herbal aromas that continue on the orange-tinged palate. It's medium-bodied and dry on flavour profile, nicely textured with very good acidity. Long finishing. Tasted Apr/2017. Score: 88+ pts
Papagiannakos Vieilles Vignes Savatiano 2016, Attica
Greece$14.75
From 50-year-old vines, this has a medium-high intensity nose with lovely lemon peel, grapefruit and citrus aromas, all coming through nicely on the palate and supported by crisp, bright acids. Lemony, mineral and orange peel notes linger on the long finish. Tasted May/2018.
Kendall Jackson Vintner's Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2014, Sonoma County
California, Usa$29.95
Ripe plum, black cherry, and dark currant aromas from the cork. Ripe aromas of blackberry, black cherry, cassis and chocolate of medium intensity in the glass, with much of the same on the flavour profile, plus hints of green pepper. The palate is medium-full bodied and dry with supple, drying tannins that could use a couple of years to soften. Juicy acids. Some graphite/pencil lead flavours arrive mid-palate, finishing with cedar oak notes. Finishes with very good length. Tasted May/2017.
Bodega Garzón Tannat 2014, Product Of Uruguay
Uruguay, World$18.95
Medium+ intensity nose is gamey and meaty with dark berry and hints of floral aromas. The palate is medium-full bodied with flavours of dark berry, oak and chocolate notes. Tannins are well-integrated, while the acidity is very good. Finishes long. Drink over the next 5 years. Tasted June/2017.
Southbrook Small Lot Cabernet Rosé 2016, Four Mile Creek
Ontario, Canada$22.25
This barrel-fermented Rosé is a blend of 60% Cab Sauv and 40% Cab Franc and features ripe strawberry, cherry, and rhubarb aromas of medium-high intensity. It's medium-bodied on the palate with nice aroma replays that have an impression of sweetness, but it's essentially dry. Acids are well-balanced and the finish length is very good. Tasted Mar/2017.
Giacomo Mori Chianti 2014, Docg
Tuscany, Italy$22.95
Blend of 95% Sangiovese and 5% Colorino/Canaiolo. Fresh red berry and plum and aromas from the cork. This has a savoury, rustic, earthy, forest floor nose followed by red cherry, raspberry, sweet oak spice and leather aromas of medium intensity and quite complex. The palate is medium-bodied and dry with red currant, sour cherry, and raspberry flavours along with woodsy elements. Bright acids are fresh, while the refined tannins are smooth and well-integrated, if a touch drying. It has a long, savoury finish. Will improve in 1-2 years and drink well to 2023. Tasted July/2017.
Les Vignes De Bila Haut Côtes Du Roussillon Blanc 2015, Ac
Languedoc, France$15.95
Blend of 60% Grenache Blanc, 20% Macabeu, 10% Marsanne, and 10% Vermentino. Floral, lemon, and tropical fruit aromas from the cork. In the glass, this has a medium+ intensity nose featuring grapefruit, lemon peel, white floral, and herbally notes, with a fine mineral component throughout. It's medium+ bodied and round on the palate with a nice mineral texture. Dry flavour profile features grapefruit, herbs, and floral notes, and a touch waxy. Juicy acids. The finish length is good, ending with a flinty mineral note. Tasted Dec/2017.
