Ridgepoint Meritage 2005, VQA Twenty Mile Bench, Niagara Peninsula Bottle
Ridgepoint Meritage 2005, VQA Twenty Mile Bench, Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada
$14.95

This wine won awards and after tasting it almost a decade later, i can see why.
I also tasted the 2007, and both are really graceful but with noticeable super fine tannins. both are packed with cherry, tobacco, herbs and spice. Get down to Ridge Point & taste for yourself!

Nice nose of roasted green bell pepper and blueberries. The pallet is silky smooth and the tannins are laid back. Medium to light body, but nice mouth feel. I picked up some steal notes, maybe from the fermentation tanks? All in all a simple wine with classic Niagara cab frac characteristics. One of the best Niagara wines at $14 i have ever had.

Sierra Cantabria Selección 2008 Bottle
Sierra Cantabria Selección 2008
Rioja, Spain
$13.95

Not bad for the money. Really well made stuff. Drinks more like a Rhone inpired wine...i get wet rock, blueberries, toffee and sour cherries and a little iron (blood taste) on the finish. No barnyard that i usually adore in my Rioja wines. oh well it's still a really nice wine for the money, just not textbook Rioja. I would buy again.

Too bad for those that received a tainted bottle, b/c i really enjoyed mine. My bottle was a Fresh & well made. Great tannin and structure (could have aged it for several more years) The nose offered black current, cedar, candle wax, which transcended to sour cherries and cedar on the palate. Medium to full bodied.

Cave Des Vignerons De Bel Air Beaujolais Villages 2009, Ac Bottle
Cave Des Vignerons De Bel Air Beaujolais Villages 2009, Ac
Beaujolais, France
$11.95

This wine has an amazing way of being sweet/sour and salty. Mararita comes to mind, but instead of lime it's sweet and sour cherries with rose petals. really good value, I chilled it slightly. Beaujolais for REAL YO! Nice.

I love the way this wine has crisp sour and smoky notes with a solid dose of minerality. Gordon Robert has done an inccredible job on his excellence series wines!

smooth, butter lemon, ripe fruit flavours...no minerality though, so a fairly simple wine...enjoyable non-the-less and great for the money

wow what an odd ball wine this is. The nose offers sweet cherries, blackberries, smoky oak, caremel and vanilla. The palate is totally disjointed and awkward. it starts sweet and smooth and finishes extremely I mean mega dry and bitter - like you just chewed up a nasty sour cherry pit and sucked on a harsh day old black tea bag. Give it a try...lol
