wow what an odd ball wine this is. The nose offers sweet cherries, blackberries, smoky oak, caremel and vanilla. The palate is totally disjointed and awkward. it starts sweet and smooth and finishes extremely I mean mega dry and bitter - like you just chewed up a nasty sour cherry pit and sucked on a harsh day old black tea bag. Give it a try...lol

Maison Audebert & Fils Domaine Du Grand Clos Bourgueil 2007, Ac
Loire, France

Nicely made wine. The colour is light purple leaning towards orange. The nose is a bit closed, but offers mulberry, potpourri, berries, earthy soil (manure). Tastes of berries with minerality notes (baked rocks). Nice clean finish with quality tannins.

Loredona Pinot Noir 2009, Monterey Bottle
Loredona Pinot Noir 2009, Monterey

Ya I agree, it's a really nice pinot. It has complexity in it flavours, it well made, drinks amazingly smooth with a caressing finish...what's not to like at $17 bucks. Wine Align critics really got this wrong.

It's a shame Pondview's 2011 Bella Terra Chardonnay will not be released in the LCBO for everyone to try...These grapes come from 25 year old vines located on PondView's estate, in the four mile creek appellation. It underwent 100% malolactic fermentation in premium french oak barrels for almost a year. As a result, it's unbelievably creamy and soft. The nose unveils soothing vanilla with subtle spice notes, caramel, and hints of hay. The palate is medium weight, with a silky texture. It's a delicious chardonnay providing creamy vanilla custard flavours to its purity of fruit. Beautiful.

You know what, I don't think the WA critics got this one correct. At first pop, agreed it is pungent and almost not pleasing. I corded it up and tasted it 24h later and it was ripe with black cherry, violet and cherry cough syrup on the nose. The palate had incredible weight and it was silky smooth like a true Burgundy. You know what, in a line up - at first pop this wine does not do well. Decant for two hours or more and it's a super star. Not all wine are made for lab analysis. This definitely proves that point when looking at John Szabo or Dave Lawrason's scores. Let it breath!!!

Kenwood Zinfandel 2008, Sonoma County Bottle
Kenwood Zinfandel 2008, Sonoma County

kenwood wines always have a silky smoothness to them and this one is no different. Give it an hour to open up, and then this wine really performs well. I like that it mixes new world fruit with old world charm and structure. I really taste the soil and earthy notes behind the wine’s fruit. It reminds me of Seghesio Zins, with a refined smoothness. At this price point, it’s a for sure buy!

Simple and acidic. It's a well made wine but lacks everything a wine lover is looking for...Character. Super boring. A Tuesday wine.

What's not to enjoy here. Big and juicy but with structured tannins. There's a lot going on from fruits, flowers, meats, dark roast and earthy notes. It's really a meal all on its own.
