Carmel Road Pinot Noir 2012, Certified Sustainable, Monterey
California, Usa$26.95
Just makes 90 in my opinion. No need to write a tasting note, David's is spot on.
Luccarelli Campo Marina Primitivo Di Manduria 2012, Dop
Puglia, Italy$16.75
Has a sweetness to it as most Primitivo's do. Fig, raisin , ripe plum - overripe fruit characteristics dominate. The palate shows some structured tannins. Nice mid week sipper!
Cusumano Noà 2012
Sicily, Italy$22.95
Reminds me of Touriga Nacional and has Port like qualities. Rich and deep ink colour. The palate is all about plum and brown sugar with volcanic ash on the finish. Redheads that fancy full bodied structured wines will dig this juice.
Beni Di Batasiolo Langhe Rosso 2013, Doc
Piedmont, Italy$14.25
This wine has some old world funkiness (wet musty, cheese) scents on the nose. The palate is complex adding blackberry and licorice. It's medium bodied with fine tannins. It gets a little tense on the mid-palate but finds its balance on the finish. Very interesting stuff.
Palacio De Sada Crianza 2011, Do Navarra
Navarra, Spain$16.95
I'm going to disagree with the WA folks on this one. This wine has fantastic drinkability. It fruity and flowery on the nose and suave and structured on the palate with nice sweet rosy notes. Really smooth and dry finish. Beautiful stuff here. Sorry John, thumbs down to you big guy. :)
Rosehall Run Defiant Pinot Noir 2014, VQA Ontario
Ontario, Canada$19.95
When first opened, the acidity is so high, it's like biting into a crab apple...not very pleasant. After leaving this open for a full day, it improves. sweet and sour cherries, and vanilla oak show through. Still has a snap of acidity on the finish. This needs riper grapes in my opinion.
Silver Palm Chardonnay 2014, North Coast
California, Usa$15.75
Delicious and smooth - offering vanilla and creamy buttery notes. Quite balanced and quaint for a Cali Chard.
Château Du Chatelard Cuvée Les Vieilles Vignes Beaujolais Villages 2014, Ap
Beaujolais, France$14.25
This is delicious and simple, however still embodies that classical Beaujolais funk - sweet sour cherries, stewed mushrooms with balsamic vinegar and rose petals. Light and silky on the palate. Lovely stuff to sip on.
Millebuis Côte Chalonnaise Pinot Noir 2012, Bourgogne
Burgundy, France$17.25
This is a very interesting expression of Pinot. The nose almost reminds me of Baco Noir - smokey, steamy, cherries herbs & spice, tree bark and much more. The palate has firm/grippy tannins that are super fine. Although I prefer my Pinots much silkier, there's no denying this is a well fashioned effort.
The Federalist Cabernet Sauvignon 2014, Lodi
California, Usa$19.95
Another great $19.95 Cab from the USA! This is fruity, woodsy and easy to put down the hatch! Highly enjoyable!
