Casa Do Valle Grande Escolha 2011 Bottle
Casa Do Valle Grande Escolha 2011
Vinho Verde, Portugal
$15.95

A lovely white with a big floral aroma complimented by some peach, and unripe pineapple. A little minerality and sweet spice add some complexity to the palate and a lively hit of lemon sees through the finish. It's fuller than most Vinho Verde wines with a smooth texture but some good acidity balances everything out.

Domaine De La Tourlaudière Muscadet Sèvre & Maine Sur Lie 2010, Ac Bottle
Domaine De La Tourlaudière Muscadet Sèvre & Maine Sur Lie 2010, Ac
Loire, France
$13.95

Tart, crisp with green apple, lemon, and mineral aromas that lead the way to a deeper melon note; a little body on the palate is balanced by a refreshing finish.

Robert Oatley Rosé Of Sangiovese 2011, Mudgee, Central Ranges Bottle
Robert Oatley Rosé Of Sangiovese 2011, Mudgee, Central Ranges
New South Wales, Australia
$13.80

This wine has an array of aromas from earthy mushroom and melon to fruity cherry and dried herbs. Some minerality plays nicely against a hint of violet. Fruity and just a little tart on the finish, this medium-bodied rosè has a lot going for it.

$25.95

Lemon, pink grapefruit, minerals, rose, sweet apple - this wine has a nice blend of aromas that lead into a spicier, honey kissed flavour and a long, full finish. Nicely balanced and lots there to enjoy.

Anakena Lilén Single Vineyard Viognier 2011, Requínoa Bottle
Anakena Lilén Single Vineyard Viognier 2011, Requínoa
Rapel Valley, Chile
$14.95

Round and fairly luscious on the palate, dry and fruity, all that texture and aroma is nicely balanced. With aromas of peach, apricot, honeysuckle and a hint of grapefruit, it goes down smoothly and you'll wish you'd bought two bottles.

Malivoire Guilty Men Red 2010, Niagara Peninsula Bottle
Malivoire Guilty Men Red 2010, Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada
$14.95

This bottle is all about the juicy, bright, red fruit. There's accompanying notes of earth and spice for a little depth, and it's got an acidic kick on the palate. Overall, it's bright, light and easy to drink. I liked it slightly chilled.

Casa Castillo Monastrell 2010, Do Jumilla Bottle
Casa Castillo Monastrell 2010, Do Jumilla

A dark, inky glass of wine with a nice earthy roundness on the nose that compliments all the dark berry fruit. It's got a little chewy texture and a sweetly spiced finish.

Château Bonnin Pichon 2008, Ac Lussac St émilion Bottle
Château Bonnin Pichon 2008, Ac Lussac St émilion
Bordeaux, France
$16.95

I really liked this. There was something new in the glass each time I came back to it: mushroom, violet, mineral, tobacco, black liquorice, cherry and plum. The effects of oak were reserved and the gentle tannins and acid were nicely balanced to leave a pleasant effect on the palate with a long fruity finish.

Gray Monk Gewurztraminer 2011, BC VQA Okanagan Valley Bottle
Gray Monk Gewurztraminer 2011, BC VQA Okanagan Valley

There's something delicate and restrained about this wine. The roses, orange peel, and hint of spice lay atop something slightly akin to petrol; a citrus back note livens things up. The lime, pithy, tart finish refreshes the palate.

Ortas Rasteau Tradition 2007, Ac Côtes Du Rhône Villages   Bottle
Ortas Rasteau Tradition 2007, Ac Côtes Du Rhône Villages
Rhône, France
$17.95

A dark red wine with lots of ripe berry fruit on the nose and even a little dried fruit - think fig. It has just the right amount of chalky texture to wrap around the silky texture of rare beef. A little cocoa along with some warm spice rounds off the finish nicely.
