Cavit Pinot Grigio 2009, Venetia
Veneto, Italy$12.95
A simple warm weather sipping wine with a nice round mouthfeel, lemon and minerals on the nose complimented by an underpinning of richer peach and floral aromas; all ending with a tart, lime finish. A good deal for under $12.
Rafale Merlot 2008, Pays D’oc
Languedoc, France$9.25
A good go-to red wine with a little body. It's all about the dark fruit: black currant, black berry and cherry with some vanilla and sweet spice to compliment. The mild acidity combined with the alcohol is just enough to balance out the fruit and makes this wine an easy sipper.
Osborne Solaz Shiraz Tempranillo 2009
Spain$9.00
Liquorice, earth, and something akin to cherry cola on the nose this is a supple, smooth drink with a balanced structure. Good to sip on its own before dinner, but you need to like a bit of a sweet profile in your red wine. If so, this is a sweet deal.
Apothic Red 2010, California
California, Usa$16.15
This is an inky, dark purple wine with oaky, vanilla and liquorice aromas, some dark cherry and blackberry fruit and an almost sweet, nutmeg-tinged finish. If you like your wine full and lush, you'll like this.
L.A. Cetto Petite Sirah 2010, Guadalupe Valley, Baja California
Mexico, World$11.95
A great example of some bottled Mexican sunshine. Ripe and full on the palate with lots of juicy, dark berry fruit, some minerality, and a little spice on the nose. All together, with the dried fruit and lavender on the long finish, make this a good deal of a wine.
Coyote's Run Pinot Gris/Pinot Blanc 2009
Ontario, Canada$15.95
A lovely, aromatic nose with some tropical fruit mingling about next to pear, quince, and a hint of minerality. It all comes together with a light, but creamy texture on the palate, and a long, juicy finish. Medium-bodied this wine would be great with some grilled fish, or all on its own.
Huff Estates Chardonnay 2007, VQA Ontario
Ontario, Canada$13.95
Butterscotch followed by banana, ripe apple and nutmeg; surprisingly light on the palate considering the bold aromas and goes down with a creamy, lemon-tinged mouthfeel. The end result is quite balanced.
Stellar Organic Winery Running Duck Chardonnay 2009, Wo Western Cape
South Africa$14.95
This is a nice wine: simple, not too complex, creamy on the palate with a focus on ripe tree fruit and a bit of lemon; nicely balanced for a wine that's 13.5 percent alcohol with a butterscotch tinged finish.
Henry Of Pelham Sauvignon Blanc 2009, VQA Short Hills Bench
Ontario, Canada$13.95
Asparagus and fresh grass on the nose along with some grapefruit and hints of richer pineapple and peach. It's a little minerally with a roundness on the palate that is balanced out by a long, tart white grapefruit finish.
Peninsula Ridge Beal Vineyards Cabernet Rosé 2010, VQA Beamsville Bench, Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$11.95
A rather intense version of pink with candied violets, cherry, grapefruit and ripe pear on the nose. Full and verging on the smooth side of things with a mild bitterness on the finish.
