Raymond Reserve Selection Cabernet Sauvignon 2018, Napa Valley
California, Usa$49.95
The Velvet Label wine had a nice presentation, but the question remains: does it translate to a good drink?
The wine had earthy aromas that were accompanied by perfumed notes, blackberry, red currant, dried herbs, and pepper.
The flavours were similar, with hints of caramel, vanilla, and a subtle taste of iron on the finish. It had medium acidity and well-integrated tannins. Overall, it was not a bad wine and the price was reasonable for Napa. Surprisingly, it paired well with pastries.- April 2024
Kleine Zalze Vineyard Selection Barrel Fermented Chenin Blanc 2022, Wo Stellenbosch
Stellenbosch, South Africa$20.25
Apple, cream, lemon, and lime on the nose and tongue with some oak spice on the finish. Lovely acidity makes this a thirst-quenching wine. April 2024
Château La Prade 2018, A.C. Bordeaux Côtes De Francs
Bordeaux, France$0.00
Aromas of plum, black cherry, bell pepper, potting soil, and violet.
The palate was juicy black fruits, licorice, subtle oak, alcohol, and some earthy notes. All this was backed by mouthwatering acidity that quickly tame the tight tannins that one expects from a young Bordeaux. Had a long nice floral and citrus finish.

Il Molino Di Grace Riserva Chianti Classico 2015, Docg
Tuscany, Italy$27.95
The last time I had this was in 2022.
Lots of perfume on the nose along with potting soil, raspberry, dried herbs, anise, and prune.
Juicy cranberry, black cherry, licorice, balsamic, minerals and pepper. Medium plus acidity with medium tannins and finish. Give these 60 minutes for the tannins to settle down. - Feb 2024
Dr. Hermann Erdener Treppchen Riesling Spätlese 2010, Prädikatswein
Mosel, Germany$20.95
The first taste created goosebumps, a wonderful old riesling, the oldest I have ever tasted, 13 years. Gold almost heading to amber.
Aromas of petroleum, apricots, marmalade, honey, and flint.
Wonderful flavors of marmalade, honey, apricots, and a hint of petroleum which was more pronounced on the nose but subtle on the tongue, long finish. This wine was Sauternes-like, I Love it. Oh it's fantastic with curry sausages
Château Peyros Vieilles Vignes Madiran 2016, Ac Madiran
Southwest, France$22.95
Earthy aromas after the initial pop and pour, then perfume, cardamom, plum, cherry, oak, leather and bell peppers. Palate was the same with hint of dusty tannins that was tamed by the acidity. Almost had a mineral like finish at the end but the cardamom bumps it out of the way at the last second. But with some time in the glass the cardamom also gets bumped, but this time by cassis. This wine is drinking well now, good food wine.
Château Coufran 2010, A.C. Haut Médoc
Bordeaux, France$43.95
Aged Bordeaux at a good value, 14 years so let's see what we have here. Tons of sediment in the bottle, aromas of plum, red chili peppers, prune, and some earthy aromas.
Juicy red plum, leather, coffee, molasses, balsamic, and orange peel. I do enjoy these dominant Left Bank Merlot's.- Jan 2024
