Valentine's Day wine....

Lots of bubbles on this nice crisp wine, nose was reduced with a hint of hay, lemon, and brioche. But lovely on the palate; apple, lemon, honey, toast, rose petal, and lemon zest.

Lovely stuff that goes well with charred honey mustard salmon. Good value at $44 CDN- Feb 2024

Pérez Cruz Chaski Petit Verdot 2018, Do Valle Del Maipo Andes

Chile on the nose with that green bell pepper. Then nutmeg, red plum, and lilac. Medium minus flavors of bell pepper, raspberry, plum, black pepper, and dried herbs. Quick finish with soft chalk tannins, and medium acidity. - July 2023

Donatella Cinelli Colombini Leone Rosso Orcia 2019, D.O.C.

60% Sangiovese and 40% Merlot. This was delicious right from the pop. Beautiful aromas in this wine of violet, plum, leather, dark cherry, and vanilla.

Flavors of ripe dark cherry, plum, red currant, vanilla, minerals, and oak. Medium plus acidity with a dry finish. Surprised this was 15% abv but you don't feel.... until the end of the bottle :)

This winery just makes bangers, their Brunello was excellent stuff now we have this. -Sept 2023

Burrowing Owl Cabernet Franc 2018, Okanagan Valley

Cabernet Franc from B.C. It had medium-plus aromas of violet, mushrooms, blackberry, and cherry. Initially, the flavours were watery, reminiscent of sautéed bell pepper. After decanting the wine opened with notes of blueberry, black cherry, perfume, mocha, licorice, and menthol. The dry finish softened as time went on. July 2024

Tenuta Frescobaldi Castiglioni 2019, Toscana

Vanilla, oak, plum, and some red fruits. This needs a little bit more bottle age to show its true self.

Pradorey Finca La Mina Reserva 2017, Single Vineyard, Do Ribera Del Duero

Medium ruby colour with medium-intensity aromas of strawberries, chalk, blueberry, and vanilla. The flavours were the same with some chocolate, cedar, and menthol on the finish. March 2024

Iona One Man Band Red 2018, W.O. Elgin

Nice South African blend comprising 64% Syrah, 27% Petit Verdot, 6% Mourvèdre, and 3% Viognier. Subtle aromas of game, perfume, raspberry, ash, and dried herbs. Juicy flavours include red fruit, game, clove, raspberry jam, black pepper, and tea.- September 2024
