Kleinood Tamboerskloof Syrah 2017

Another light Syrah almost pinot-like, this was too easy to drink or is there such a thing? Medium minus aromas of violet, blueberry, and bacon fat. Flavours of dried red pepper, blackberry, raspberry, ash, with a hint of black pepper and menthol. Quick finish with approachable tannins and medium acidity. -March 2024

Martinez Lacuesta Gran Reserva 2010, D.O.Ca Rioja Alta

Intoxicating game aromas along with oak, brown sugar, Cheese, perfume, and black fruits. The meat aromas were something else that hypnotized you to keep smelling, like some sort of drug.

Flavours of game, dried herbs, oak, fig, black fruit, and red licorice. Soft tannins with medium plus acidity, it's juicy but the body keeps it in check, very well balanced. Fantastic value- tasted July 2023

Mullineux Syrah 2019, W.O. Swartland

Syrah from South Africa has a very light aroma and colour. It has a light ruby colour & medium (-) aromas of cherry, clove, a hint of pepper, and blueberry.

The flavours are of medium intensity with cherry rhubarb, red plum, blueberry, Earl Grey tea, and minerals. The finish is dry and quick, but the wine is still lovely and delicate. This is not for those who prefer bombastic and ripe Syrahs.-April 2024

Dry Creek The Mariner Meritage 2016, Dry Creek Valley, Sonoma County

A hint of sediment.

Deep ruby color with medium minus intensity aromas of BBQ bell pepper, perfume, brown sugar, potting soil, and blackberry. The palate was in-your-face chalk tannins that go away quickly to reveal balsamic, vanilla, juicy red plum, strawberry, black fruits, bell pepper, oak & smoke.

High acidity & quick finish made for a fantastic food wine that needs 90 min to decant. 3 more years for tertiary notes to show?

Ségla 2014, Second Wine Of Château Rauzan Ségla, Ac Margaux

Perfume aromas dominate the nose with hints of oak, cassis, dried herbs, and cherry.

The palate is the same as the aromas with hints of Blackberry, cranberry, cream, and licorice after 90 minutes. Soft tannins and medium (-) acidity. A Lovely Margaux

Beronia Gran Reserva 2015, D.O.Ca Rioja

Popping aromas of raspberry, black cherry, perfume, dill, and a hint of leather. Flavours of cocoa, ripe black cherry, raspberry, and dried fig with a hint of sweet balsamic and menthol. It has a long finish with a hint of chalky tannins. -June 2024

Tegernseerhof Ried Loibenberg Smaragd Riesling 2019, Wachau

Austrian Riesling, 13%Abv, 4 g/L. Aromas of butter, flint, honey, chamomile, hay, and a hint of petroleum. A lovely fresh wine perfect for summer and food pairing, particularly with spicy pad Thai. It offers flavours of lemon, butter, honey, stone fruit, white pepper and elderflower. High acidity with medium minus finish.- June 2024

Dog Point Sauvignon Blanc 2021, Marlborough, South Island

Urbina Reserva 1998, Doca Rioja

Beautiful dried cherry smell along with prune and oak. Taste of oak, balsamic, dried black fruits and herbs. Acidity is still there and the tannins have soften with a slight dry finish. Past prime which i would peg at two to three years ago

Radford Dale Renaissance Chenin Blanc 2020, W.O. Stellenbosch

Taking a step up from the regular Radford Dale Chenin. Aromas of cream, honey, grass, and passion fruit. Beautiful crisp acidity and subtle complexity of sour pear, butter, lemon, honey, grass, and elderflower. This is more balanced than the lower Chenin. Went perfectly with Indian cuisine.
