Greywacke Sauvignon Blanc 2022, Marlborough
Marlborough, New Zealand$26.95
#10 on Wine Spectator's Wine of the Year list. A good thing this came out at the LCBO before the list dropped or it wouldn't have been so cheap.
Lovely aromas of elderflower, honey, butter, hay, & passion fruit. Aromas except for the flowers showed up on the tongue in a subtle yet delicious way along with lemon, & pepper. Great acidity to go with the medium plus finish. The folks at Greywacke don't miss, their Riesling was fantastic now this. Amazing food & snack wine especially with semi-soft cheese & fig jam.-March 2024
Kir Yianni Le Nord Assyrtiko 2020, I.G.P. Florina
Macedonia, Greece$18.95
Aromas of grass and pear. Tasted like pear, apple, grapefruit, lime, and salt. High acidity and long finish, fantastic with greek food of course.
Marchesi Antinori Tignanello 2013, Toscana
Tuscany, Italy$124.95
Aromas feature a strong perfume bouquet along with ripe plum, iron, tobacco, oak, molasses, and some earthy notes. The palate required some coaxing. I tasted chocolate, black currants, tobacco, and dried herbs, with a long finish that reminded me of bourbon due to a menthol burn. However, after 90 min, I detected cassis and graphite on the finish, but the burn persisted. Allow a minimum of 2 hours for decanting. Tannins are not a problem. The second day, it didn't improve- May 31 2025
Château Maucamps 2006, A.C. Haut Médoc
Bordeaux, France$37.95
Aromas of tobacco hit me like I just lit a big Arnold Schwarzenegger-style cigar followed by oak, forest floor, cedar, black currant, and molasses after some time. The palate is pure tertiary Notes of Leather, tobacco, clove, prunes, and iron. Also, a hint of cinnamon with a dry finish.
Clos Saint Michel H To H Homage To Heritage Châteauneuf Du Pape 2017, A.P. Rhône
Rhône, France$37.25
Pale Garnet with Medium intensity aromas of game, red fruit, dried herbs, oak, perfume, and black pepper.
Medium-intensity flavors of sour cherry, game, thyme, vanilla, and some savory notes. Medium plus finish with medium plus acidity and medium minus grain tannins. Very soft drinking wine with some warmth thanks to the 14.5 abv.
Castello Di Volpaia Chianti Classico 2018, Docg

Beautiful medium plus aromas of violet, cherry, wet tobacco, basil, dried herbs, and caramel.
Sweet yet savoury entry on the tongue; red fruit, sweet tomato, plum, and dried herbs. Long finish with medium plus acidity and soft tannins. Good stuff - Jan 2024
Luce Brunello Di Montalcino 2018, D.O.C.G.
Tuscany, Italy$157.95
Aromas of cherry, raspberry, and flowers that seemed like they were sprinkled with baby powder, yes you read that right
Burrowing Owl Merlot 2019, Okanagan Valley
British Columbia, Canada$42.95
Very easy drinking wine with a hint of violet and Black fruit aromas. The palate was the same along with some oak, plum, pepper, and sage. Still need some time in the bottle to show its true self.
Ruffino Riserva Ducale Oro Gran Selezione Chianti Classico 2015, Docg Tuscany
Tuscany, Italy$49.95
Gran Selezione with some age on it, medium garnet. Aromas of raspberry, dried herbs, sandalwood, tobacco, smoke, and sweet Balsamic.
High acidity with soft tannins that started medium but softened after 90 minutes. The palate was the same as the nose with a hint of perfume but short finish, an enjoyable wine.
Carpineto Riserva Chianti Classico 2017, Docg
Tuscany, Italy$31.95
Chianti with a complex nose. Aromas of smoke, vanilla, oak, cherry, raspberry, game, violet, and tobacco. Flavors are the same except for the game and Raspberry. A dry mid-palate but a Juicy finish. High acidity, of course, integrated tannins.
