Diemersdal Reserve Pinotage 2021

This one is quaffable and fruit-forward without being overwhelming. It has pleasant aromas of black cherry, fig, currants, perfume, cream, and strawberry pie. The flavours include cherry, strawberry, vanilla, and a hint of ash, with a Savoury and sweet, rather short finish. It boasts medium + acidity and soft tannins. Good stuff!- Oct 2024

Carpineto Riserva Chianti Classico 2017, Docg

Chianti with a complex nose. Aromas of smoke, vanilla, oak, cherry, raspberry, game, violet, and tobacco. Flavors are the same except for the game and Raspberry. A dry mid-palate but a Juicy finish. High acidity, of course, integrated tannins.

E. Guigal Gigondas 2018, A.C.

Pop and Pour is full of game aromas with lots of red fruits like cranberry, strawberry, and cherry with hints of perfume, dried herbs, and black pepper.

With some decanting everything becomes subtle. The game aromas follow the palate along with the perfume, dried herbs, and red fruits. The 15% abv is really subtle until it isn't.

Château Teyssier 2020, Ac Montagne Saint émilion

The last time I had this I wasn't a fan, this was better, but I feel this wine needs time. Aromas of cassis, plum, and perfume Flavours of plum, cedar, and olive. - Feb 2024

Clos Saint Michel H To H Homage To Heritage Châteauneuf Du Pape 2017, A.P. Rhône

Pale Garnet with Medium intensity aromas of game, red fruit, dried herbs, oak, perfume, and black pepper.

Medium-intensity flavors of sour cherry, game, thyme, vanilla, and some savory notes. Medium plus finish with medium plus acidity and medium minus grain tannins. Very soft drinking wine with some warmth thanks to the 14.5 abv.

Bachelder Lowrey Old Vines Pinot Noir 2020, VQA St. David's Bench, Niagara Peninsula

The wine has a lovely aroma of cranberry, cherry, potting soil, and blueberry. On the palate, you will taste tart flavors of cherry, cranberry, citrus, and a hint of prune with a mineral finish. The finish is quick, but the wine is a delight to drink and pairs fantastically with frits. - April 2024

Hedges Family Estate Red 2020, Red Mountain, Yakima Valley, Washington

Medium-intensity aromas of perfume, salt, smoke, cream, baking spice, blackberry, and cassis. The flavours were consistent with the aroma, with hints of milk chocolate, green peppercorn, and tomato leaf. Complex wine with a long finish. May 2024

Château Maucamps 2006, A.C. Haut Médoc

Aromas of tobacco hit me like I just lit a big Arnold Schwarzenegger-style cigar followed by oak, forest floor, cedar, black currant, and molasses after some time. The palate is pure tertiary Notes of Leather, tobacco, clove, prunes, and iron. Also, a hint of cinnamon with a dry finish.

Lavau Gigondas 2018, A.C.Gigondas

I first had this bottle two years ago and thought it needed some more bottle time even though it was drinking well then. 50% Grenache, 40% Syrah, 10% Mourvedre.

Medium minus aromas of Black fruits, dried herbs, game, espresso, menthol, and raspberry sauce. Medium flavours of blackberry, dried herbs, baked plum, and a long coffee finish. This was much different with a longer finish than before.- March 2024

Domaine Anita Tres Vieilles Vignes Les Caves Moulin à Vent 2020, A.C.

I didn't expect Gamay to be able to compete with Burgundy Pinot but here we are. The wine had aromas of pomegranate and cherry, which continued through on the palate, with a hint of black cherry and licorice. It was smooth and juicy. This might be the best Gamay I've had yet, and now I'm looking forward to trying the La Rochelle.- May 2024
