Riesling from four different vintages; 2020, 2019, 2018 and 2017. Smelled like jasmine, flint, pear, lemon, old honey, and mango. Nice fresh flavours of lime, mango, papaya, petrol, and white pepper. Medium plus finish and acidity. - feb 2024
Neil Ellis Whitehall Chardonnay 2020, W.O.
Elgin, South Africa$34.95
Creamy on the nose along with grapefruit, banana, and candied ginger. A rush of grapefruit on the tongue along with honey, grass, lemon zest, and pepper. Great job with the oak integration.
Cortonese La Mannella Rosso Di Montalcino 2019, Doc

What a lovely sunny day wine with aromas of cherry, raspberry, and plum. The flavors are consistent with a hint of orange on the finish. The tannins are soft, and it has medium-plus acidity. Chill and drink- May 2024
Castello Vicchiomaggio Agostino Petri Riserva Chianti Classico 2018, 47th Anniversary Docg
Tuscany, Italy$30.95
Medium ruby/purple with medium minus intensity aromas of cherry, strawberry, perfume, oak, plum, licorice, and some earthy aromas.
Medium-intensity flavors of plum, oak, earthy dried herbs, candied cherry, and balsamic. Medium plus acidity with soft tannins with a medium finish. Fantastic with spaghetti and meatballs, a delicious and inviting wine.
Château Mongravey Cru Bourgeois Supérieur 2018, A.C. Margaux
Bordeaux, France$59.00
Young Bordeaux so it's a travesty opening it up now, but life is too short.
Beautiful aromas of perfume, red fruit, cream, black fruit, and a hint of bell pepper and earthy aromas.
The palate was soft red fruits like raspberry, and cherry along with black fruits, tomato leaves, and soft mint. Some chalky tannins are tamed thanks to the high acidity so it's excellent with food. A nice wine that will be better in three years.
Emiliana Coyam 2018, Los Robles Estate, Colchagua Valley
Colchagua Valley, Chile$29.95
Medium aromas of game, potting soil, paprika, raspberry, perfume, blueberry, and cassis. The flavours mirrored the nose, but after 90 min, the fruits became juicier and ripe, with hints of vanilla, pepper, minerals, and menthol. It had a long finish with soft tannins. Overall, it was a nice, complex wine, much better than the 2019.- Nov 2024
La Réserve De Léoville Barton 2015, Ac St Julien
Bordeaux, France$78.00
Deep purple wine, with high-intensity aromas of perfume, cassis, potting soil, and oak. This is before 90 minutes of decanting. The palate was the same with some minerals, leather, and some chalky tannins.
After 90 minutes it became fruitier, perfumy, with some cedar, and less powerful with raspberry and plum. Low tannins and high acidity. A good food wine that everyone will enjoy.
Chanzy Le Bois Cassien Monopole Mercurey 1er Cru 2019, A.C.
Burgundy, France$35.25
Medium minus aromas and flavours of lemon, honey, white flowers, and melon. Cream and hazelnut also show up on the tongue. Long finish with age showing. I enjoyed the nose on this even though it was subtle- March 2024
