Joseph Drouhin Beaujolais Villages Nouveau 2012, Burgundy
Burgundy, France$15.95
This is a drier more elegant style of Nouveau that is less 'candied' compared to others. Strawberries and raspberries predominate the nose. The palate is medium-bodied with a refreshing acidity and cranberry on the finish. Nice length.
Would have been a good value if the price wasn't so high.

Bodegas Hidalgo Oloroso Faraon Sherry
Spain$21.95
Medium amber colour. Aromas of orange pekoe, virginia pipe tobacco, and roasted almond. Dry palate, which is balanced in acidity and alcohol. Notes of black tea, pecan, and a touch of coffee. Better than average length. March 2011.
Christian Moueix Merlot 2005, Bordeaux
Bordeaux, France$15.95
The nose has essences of cedarbox, oak spice, and a hint of blackcurrant. The palate was unbalanced. It was difficult to detect quantities of fruit, even the currant. The tannins are really wound tight, and there is a stemmy component. Palatable, but phenolically unripe. (Jan 26, 2011)
Cave Spring Riesling 2008, Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$14.95
A wine that is very sure of itself as an Ontario riesling. Has a pleasant, forthcoming nose of apricot and a sweet orange with blossom. The palate is generous and balanced as the perceivable sweetness (and weight) from the fruit tie nicely with the elevated acidity. The length gives you some time to enjoy. It is versatile and would be easily paired with weighty white meats. (Jan 5, 2010)
Domaine Lou Moural Minervois 2007, Ac
Languedoc, France$12.95
Ruby in colour with a pinkish rim. Medium intense, youthful nose of blackberry and cherry. There's more intensity and complexity to the palate than on the nose. Notes of leather, pepper, black fruits. Medium length. Apr 2011.
Veramonte Reserva Chardonnay 2008, Casablanca Valley
Chile$12.95
A solid wine. Ample acidic structure and cleansing acidity. Medium bodied with a rounded creaminess. Pineapple and cantaloupe, with oak spice and a hint of caramel. Try with a sea scallop and beurre blanc. Feb 2011.
Château Les Clauzots 2009, Ac Graves
Bordeaux, France$12.95
A well rounded profile with youthful green grass, violet, and grapefruit citrus on the nose. The mouthfeel has a lighter body, with a structure of citrus and herb, and is rounded out by a green apple note. Finishes pleasantly and with good length.

Schoenheitz Linsenberg Riesling 2007, Ac Alsace
Alsace, France$17.95
Developed floral, green pear and citrus nose with a touch of waxy petrol tone. Balanced citrus, minerality, and green fruit profile with good length. Jan 2011.
Tabalí Reserva Especial Pinot Noir 2009, Limarí Valley
Chile$19.95
Leans toward the new world in style. Shows a youthful profile of strawberry and raspberry. A touch of the herbal, wet leaf and earthen-root vegetable notes. Great length. Feb 2011
Domaine Besancenot Beaune Clos Du Roi 1er Cru 2006, Ac
Burgundy, France$30.45
Paler garnet colour. Diverse aromas of dry raspberry and strawberry, autumn leaves and moss. The palate is well balanced and layered. The tannins are quite fine in texture. Tart red berry fruits, cherry, sweet spices and a mushroom undertone. It is a classy, delicate example. March 2011.
