Marchesi De' Frescobaldi Tenuta Di Castiglioni 2011, Igt Toscana
Tuscany, Italy$21.95
This wine strikes a nice balance between price and quality of product. The flavour profile shows oak spices, dried fruits and a dusty earthiness.
Featherstone Cabernet Franc 2012, VQA Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$18.95
This is probably the nicest Cabernet Franc I have tasted from Ontario (not that I have tasted a great deal to this point...). The wine showed well developed fruit flavours, and had a well balanced mouth feel. There was also a hint of smokiness that would make this an excellent BBQ wine. The wine also did not show the over-green flavours that some of the other Cabernet Francs tasted at the same time did.

Root: 1 Carmenère 2012
Colchagua Valley, Chile$12.95
This is a really nice $12 bottle of wine. Flavours are dark and full, and develop well in the glass. Very satisfying.
Stoneleigh Sauvignon Blanc 2013
Marlborough, New Zealand$17.45
A solid bet for those who like the Marlborough style. The nose is full of grassy, herbal notes and the palette is packed with bright citrus flavours.
Goats Do Roam White 2013, Coastal Region
Western Cape, South Africa$11.95
A wine that will suit many tastes – the aroma is soft with a hint of citrus and herbs. Taste is well balanced and not overpowering.
Wolf Blass Gold Label Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon 2012
South Australia, Australia$23.95
This wine has a lovely smokey character gained form its time aging in oak that makes it quite attractive on the nose. The taste has cassis notes and a slight, almost molasses flavour to it. This is a very different Coonawarra Cab when compared to the Wynne's - more of a heavy hitter - but it lacks the complex elegance to push my rating higher.

Maipe Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2012, Mendoza
Mendoza, Argentina$18.95
Very smooth on the tongue with a reasonable flavour profile. For the money, there are simply better Argentinian wines available.
Porcupine Ridge Syrah 2013, Swartland
Swartland, South Africa$13.95
For the price, this is an outstanding wine. It pairs really well with spicy food as the flavour profile is big, bold and spicy in its own right.
La Vieille Ferme Red 2013, Ventoux
Rhône, France$12.45
A very easy to drink, well composed table wine. Not a lot of complexity here, but a wine that can pair well with just about anything.
