Camporeale Aglianico 2015, Igp Campania
Campania, Italy$13.95
A very interesting and unique wine. Very saline and mineral based, with a strange effervescence on the palette. Not truly enjoyable on its own, but very refreshing with food.
Alpine Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2011, Marlborough
Marlborough, New Zealand$15.95
An excellent wine. Not too grassy, but with bright herbaceous notes. This is a great example of a Marlborough white at a very reasonable price.
Jean Philippe Janoueix L'evidence 2011
Bordeaux, France$7.95
I love it when the LCBO discontinues wines, and you can pick up something like this for under $8. This wine for this price is a steal. The nose has nice dark fruit, tobacco, oak and spice notes that are indicative of Bordeaux wines. The taste is unimpressive at first - but if allowed to breathe for an hour or so, nice cherry and plum flavours start coming through.
Sella & Mosca Riserva Cannonau Di Sardegna 2009, Doc
Sardinia, Italy$17.95
Just fine. Some red fruit mixed with moderate acidity. This definitely needs a little time to open up once poured.
Monasterio De Las Vinas Gran Reserva 2005, Aragon
Spain$16.95
A very nice wine straight out of the bottle, this was not as 'dusty' or old as a 2005 was expected to be. It showed nice round, black fruit flavours and finished with slightly dry tannins. A good wine for the price.
Two Oceans Chardonnay 2012, Western Cape
South Africa$6.95
The wine is a nice straw colour with a rounded aroma showing moderate oak. Taste is typical chardonnay and shows no surprises for the price point. A nice table wine.
