Henry Of Pelham Rose 2014, VQA Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$14.95
A very nice rose with aroma of strawberries and apricot. This needs to be chilled nicely to really be crisp and refreshing.
Mas Des Bressades Cuvée Tradition Rosé 2014, Ap Costières De Nîmes
Rhône, France$16.95
This was a lovely and refreshing wine. The aroma and taste were well balanced and full of fresh fruit flavours without being overly sweet. The wine was enjoyed with fish tacos and paired extremely well.
J. Lohr Hilltop Cabernet Sauvignon 2012, Paso Robles
California, Usa$49.95
A perfect example of an overly sweet, overly extracted Californian wine. For lack of a better comparison, this kind of tasted like strawberry fruit roll ups. This wine had loads of residual sugars and was extremely soft in the mouth. Not worth the price.
Tasted blind at a Beefsteak & Burgundy Club event, May 2016.
Wolf Blass Yellow Label Chardonnay 2014, Padthaway/Adelaide Hills
South Australia, Australia$15.95
Lua Cheia Em Vinhas Velhas 2013, Doc Douro
Douro, Portugal$14.95
Another example of a fine value in Portuguese wines. A nice, balanced dark fruit flavour profile is combined with the earthiness and grit that are so prevalent in the schist soils of the country. A nice buy at $14.
Lavau Cotes Du Rhone Villages 2011
Rhône, France$13.95
This wine presents very good value - a long as you like the drier, slightly earthy finish. The aroma is full of blackberries, blueberries and plums which go well with the juicy mouth feel. The finish can be a bit dry, which may turn some people off.
