Chateau D'aigueville Côte Du Rhône Villages 2016, Ac Bottle
Chateau D'aigueville Côte Du Rhône Villages 2016, Ac
Rhône, France
$16.65

Much like the '15, perhaps even a step up, this is a spot-on CdR Villages. Pepper and spice infused dark fruit, garrigue, fine tannin. Impressive complexity and density for less that $16. Really delicious and I'll be back for more. Tasted Oct 2018.

Anselmi San Vincenzo 2017, Igt Veneto Bottle
Anselmi San Vincenzo 2017, Igt Veneto
Veneto, Italy
$17.95

from Veneto, this is a blend of garganega with sauvignon blanc and also (according to the label) chardonnay. I like the interplay between some tropical fruit with the cooler climate citrus notes. Very good complexity and a crisp lingering finish and no discernable wood. Really nicely done and a very good value.....and will be even a better value when it is discounted $2 near the end of April. Tasted April 2019.

Melini Chianti Classico Reserva 2011 Bottle
Melini Chianti Classico Reserva 2011
Tuscany, Italy
$19.95

A nice step up from the '09, this is a fresher and more complex CCR, yet fully mature. I like the leathery/earthy notes that have emerged along with the red cherry fruit. Tannin has softened and the finish has just a hint of old wood. On sale until April 28, this is fine value. Tasted April 2019.

Gabriel Meffre La Chasse Vacqueyras Grande Reserve 2015 Bottle
Gabriel Meffre La Chasse Vacqueyras Grande Reserve 2015
Rhône, France
$20.00

Not the depth of the better Vacqueyras, but less expensive as well. A bit rough and ready, but a delicious, authentic expression of the Cotes du Rhone, with classic herb infused fruit, pepper and good tannic grip on the finish. I'd be happy sipping this any day of the week. Nice new addition to the LCBO general list. Tasted Aug 2018.

Domaine Bousquet Malbec 2018, Tupungato Valley Bottle
Domaine Bousquet Malbec 2018, Tupungato Valley
Mendoza, Argentina
$13.45

Organic Malbec showing nicely ripened fruit with an herbal touch. Tannin is fairly light but sufficient to give some backbone along with bright acidity. No reliance on residual sugar or oak flavours. Really nicely done and an easy multiple bottle purchase for summer grillin' at only $14 (I think I scored this for $12 on sale - should have bought more). Tasted May 2019.

Agree with Steve, this is indeed a very good pinot for the price. Ripe red fruit, beetroot and spice with a decent structure and good acidity. More than fairly priced. Tasted April 2018.

Miguel Torres Cordillera De Los Andes Cabernet Sauvignon 2015, Maipo Valley Bottle
Miguel Torres Cordillera De Los Andes Cabernet Sauvignon 2015, Maipo Valley
Maipo Valley, Chile
$22.95

Like the 2013, a big rich heavily oaked Cabernet from Chile. Certainly dense, but just too much oak for my taste. in my notes for the '13, I said "...my next $20 will be spent elsewhere". I have such a short memomy, but then again, I didnt pay over $20 for this! I got it on sale for 30% off. Anyway, not for me but it did taste better with Shepherd's Pie. Tasted Sep 2019.

Almeida Garrett Entre Serras 2015, Doc Beira Interior

$12.95

A bit blunt and unpolished, but there is alot of flavour for the money. Nice punchy dark fruit, a decent (if slighly astrigent) finish, but I rather liked this. You could do alot worse for $13. Agree with David, buy a few and see how they age over the next couple of years. Tasted Aug 2019.

Chateau Labarrade Malbec 2016, Cahors Bottle
Chateau Labarrade Malbec 2016, Cahors
Southwest, France
$13.85

The fact that a wine from Cahors is using "Malbec" on the label indicates that these producers are trying to capture some of the consumers of Argentine Malbec. To my taste, this still firmly leans to the model of Cahors from the past. Lean, savoury, and much less fruit than Argentine Malbec. A bit tannic and finishing with tart acidity. Not alot of joy here on its own, but works well with food. Tasted June 2019.
