I attempted to drink a highly rated Aussie Shiraz right after this and couldn't believe the contrast. This wine has an intense peppery nose. It is smooth and complex at the same time. I fear my big Shiraz days may be numbered as I quite preferred this French Syrah. I'm good for a case!

For those of us who are still learning the virtues of cellaring (or simply drink their wine too fast), it's a rare opportunity to purchase an aged wine that's ready to drink. This Rioja is a fantastic wine and I highly recommend it to friends who want a change of pace from fruit bombs.

Top quality county chardonnay. Up there with Closson Chase and Exultet IMHO. I don't pick up the same degree of oak as some of the critics. This is also $15 less than other top county chards.
