Concha Y Toro Terrunyo Block 27 Carmenère 2008, Peumo Vineyard, Peumo, Cachapoal Valley

Although not quite at the same level as the 2007 this is a fine, structured Carmenere with the lovely nose that I love. Hopefully I'll have the patience to let this age a year or two. A definite step up from the glut of Carmenere at the $20 price point.

Caledonia Australis Reserve Chardonnay 2008, Leongatha, Gippsland

Tasted this at the Victorian tasting. My first thought was Chablis. Favourite wine of the wines being released on July 21/12.

Tarras The Canyon Single Vineyard Pinot Noir 2008, Central Otago, South Island

This is the best Pinot I've had this year.

Pirramimma Petit Verdot 2010, Mclaren Vale

Quite surprised by this wine. Wonderful rich nose.

Blue Mountain Pinot Noir 2011, Okanagan Valley

While this wine is only available from the winery direct it's worth the effort. I'm with David on this one, and since I'm not a professional critic my score reflects the incredible value of this wine. Best Pinot Noir for the money.

Exultet Estates 'the Blessed' Chardonnay 2011, VQA Prince Edward County

We visited Exlutet last year and managed to pry one last case of the 2010 out of Gerry's cellar. I got to try the 2011 at the Ottawa wine show last November and decided then to purchase more.

This is my favourite chardonnay from the county which is saying a lot as I love county chardonnay.

Amazing rich nose, great body, acidity and finish.

La Rioja Alta Viña Ardanza Reserva 2004, Doca Rioja

A very special wine. Amazing and complex nose with a finish that lingers. A wine to savour and enjoy. I will be buying more.

Henry Of Pelham Speck Family Reserve Baco Noir 2014, VQA Ontario

I must admit that my expectations were very low for a Baco Noir. I was blown away by this wine - a great wine. I'll have to reframe my references when it comes to Baco from now on. Recommended.

Terravista Vineyards Fandango 2017, Okanagan Valley

I don't like to dance too much but, yes, I will do the Fandango... again and again. This wine is quite aromatic with a dry finish, dangerously quaffable. Has become my go to white. May have to order a second case!
