Casa Ferreirinha Papa Figos Tinto 2018, Doc Douro
Douro, Portugal$15.95
Very rounded and fruity on entry, with a vague impression of sweetness. Not on the dusty end of the Douro spectrum. Smooth and has decent acidity. Quite enjoyable overall.
Muga Reserva 2007, Doc Rioja
Spain$23.95
Quite tart. Sour cherry flavours with an undercurrent of oak. Smooth and easy to drink but, at $23.95, I am not finding this a screamingly good buy.
Lua Cheia Old Vines Red 2017, D.O.C. Douro
Douro, Portugal$20.14
Stunning value. A great wine for steak. Dense, dry, good acidity and tannins but not harsh. Rounded and plummy. Decant a bit.
Malivoire Wine Ladybug Rosé 2017, Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$16.95
Quite substantial. Not particularly fruity. Good acidity and dry. Nice to have a solid Ontario rose that you can rely on.
Lavau Tavel Rosé 2017, Ac
Rhône, France$18.95
Ditto. Quite excellent. Just got around to opening a bottle that I bought at the end of last summer.
Vineland Estates Cabernet Franc 2017, VQA Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$13.95
Not what I expected. Tasted sweeter than I expected, despite declared residual sugar of only 7 g/L. Reminded me of a German Pinot Noir. Round cherry fruit flavours make this a very pleasant wine, although not quite what I think of as Cab Franc. Not my first choice for roast meats.
The 2021 isn’t listed so I will have to review here. a very pleasant wine and perhaps a little drier than the vintage noted above. 88 points still seems right.
Divino Silvaner Trocken 2019, Qualitätswein
Franken, Germany$16.95
Reviews above are spot on. Lighter than I expected.
Malivoire Gamay 2018, VQA Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$19.95
The residual sugar (at 9 g/L) is a bit high for me. Given the low tannins and moderate acidity, ends up seeming a bit confected.
Henry Of Pelham Cabernet Merlot 2018, VQA Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$15.95
Very pleasant. Not hugely complex or deep, but elegant, with balanced acids and smooth tannins.
Terrific value, especially at the current discounted price of $13.95. Nice to see that Ontario wineries are able to produce this quality of product at this price point.

Just tried the 2019 vintage, which tastes much sweeter than the i recall being the case for the 2018 vintage reviewed above. Not an improvement.
Creekside Marianne Hill Riesling 2016, Marianne Hill Vineyard, VQA Beamsville Bench, Niagara Escarpment
Ontario, Canada$16.25
Quite dry and a bit too acidic, but good length.
