Xavier Vignon Côtes Du Rhône 2020, Ap
Rhône, France$18.95
David’s comment sums this up well; medium weight, easy drinking, and juicy. Very enjoyable desistir the 14.5 alcohol.
The Wolftrap White 2016, Boekenhoutskloof
Western Cape, South Africa$12.95
Quite full bodied and good complexity. As David notes, a slight bitter finish.
I actually prefer the Roodeberg White, a similar blend, which is available in Manitoba for a little less. The Roodenberg has a slightly rounder and sweeter flavor profile, but is also quite complex and good value for the money.
Flat Rock Chardonnay 2016, VQA Twenty Mile Bench, Niagara Escarpment
Ontario, Canada$19.95
This is electricity in a glass. Clear evidence of oak, but combined with good acidity, all in balance, make this a wonderful wine.
Fergie Jenkins Limited Edition Riesling 2014, VQA Twenty Mile Bench, Niagara Escarpment
Ontario, Canada$16.95
Bargain of the decade. David's tasting notes are spot on, but I will give this one more point. Quite lush.
Château Saint Roch Chimères Grenache/Carignan/Syrah 2020, Ap Côtes Du Roussillon Villages
Midi, France$19.95
Enjoyable despite the high alcohol level.
Kutjevo Grasevina 2021, Danube Kutjevo Vineyard, Slavonia
Croatia$16.95
A very assertive wine with a dry, if a little rough, finish. Good acidity. Would definitely buy again.
Lavau Tavel Rosé 2017, Ac
Rhône, France$18.95
Ditto. Quite excellent. Just got around to opening a bottle that I bought at the end of last summer.
Maria Papoila Loureiro/Alvarinho 2021, Doc Vinho Verde
Vinho Verde, Portugal$18.95
I can’t believe how complex and powerful this is. So much energy - very mineral and tart but also sumptuous. I’ve never had a vinho verde quite as good as this.
Decelle Côtes Du Rhône Villages Valréas Blanc 2021, A.C.,
Rhône, France$16.75
Really delicious. As noted by the critics, balance is key. Has a full bodied creaminess but also manages to be racy and lean. Love this.
