Wine lover since 2001! My interest in wine began while touring the factory where they printed the LCBO VINTAGES magazine.
Over time, my passion for wine grew. Now, I am highly regarded by friends and colleagues as a resource for when they need a wine for that special occasion, be it an anniversary, birthday, wedding, gatherings at home, or when they want to impress their special friend or the In-Laws.
Combining my interest in the Internet/web/computers, you can find me at https://vintagewinepicks.blogspot.com where you will find more wine reviews, events and contests.

Sandeman 20 Year Old Tawny Port, Dop, Portugal
Douro, Portugal$61.95
I found the nose a bit soft, offering raisin, caramel and nutty aromas, but the sweet and very smooth medium-bodied palate is vibrant and full of life with lovely oak spices, caramel, brown sugar and hazelnut flavours lifted by bright acids on the mid-palate. The long, driving finish is very appealing. Tasted Nov/2017. Score: 91+ pts
Argyros Assyrtiko 2016, Santorini
Santorini, Greece$29.95
Lovely, highly aromatic nose features stony, chalky mineral along with lime, grapefruit, and herbal notes. It's medium-full bodied on the palate with a very nice chalky mineral texture, fine acids, and mineral-driven grapefruit flavours. Powerful mid-palate and finishes long and clean with herbally notes. Well-balanced overall. Tasted Nov/2017.
Hidden Bench Estate Chardonnay 2016, VQA Beamsville Bench, Niagara Escarpment
Ontario, Canada$29.95
Consistently a quality wine, the 2016 vintage has medium-high+ intensity aromatics offering ripe pear, apple, butter, and vanilla notes. It's medium+ bodied on the ripe, crunchy palate with nicely balanced aroma replays, plus some butterscotch flavours. Wood influence is subtle and well-integrated. Acids are balanced, while finish length is excellent. Tasted Oct/2018.
Voyager Shiraz 2013, Margaret River
Western Australia, Australia$28.75
This is a full bodied and elegant Shiraz with crunchy tannins, dark berry, sweet oak, and blueberry aromas and flavours. It has very good acids and a long finish that is just a touch hot. Tasted Jun/2017.
Malivoire Vivant Rosé 2017, VQA Beamsville Bench, Niagara Escarpment
Ontario, Canada$19.95
Screw cap. Pale pink colour much the same as Provence. Lovely, highly aromatic, bright and fresh aromas of mineral, white grapefruit, and lemon citrus. The palate is dry with complex white grapefruit, orange peel, herbs, and mineral with hints of lemon, on a medium-full bodied frame and lifted with crisp, vibrant acidity. Nicely balanced throughout with hints of strawberry and cherry flavours. Excellent finish length with lemony nuances. Tasted Jun/2018.
Fattoria Dei Barbi Brunello Di Montalcino 2013, Docg
Tuscany, Italy$54.95
Fresh, highly aromatic nose offers lovely red cherry, sweet spice, red berry, and clove notes. It's full-bodied with lovely aroma replays supported by well-managed tannins that are nicely integrated. Savoury, earthy notes arrive on the mid-palate, adding complexity. Acids are juicy. Excellent length on the savoury finish. Tasted Sept/2019.
Domain Mega Spileo Red 2011
World$29.95
Blend of 60% Mavrodafne and 40% Mavro Kalavritino. This has a medium-high intensity nose that would benefit with a short decant and offers complex notes of oak spice, black spices, red and black fruits, dark cherry and mineral. It's full-bodied with very nice aroma replays along with some savoury, herbally notes that evolve with each sip. Balanced acids are very good, while the tannins are smooth and refined. The smooth finish has excellent length. Tasted Apr/2018.
Rodney Strong Chalk Hill Chardonnay 2015, Sonoma County
California, Usa$26.95
The medium-high intensity nose is mineral-driven with pear, apple and vanilla notes. It has nice aroma replays plus hints of lemon on the fleshy, creamy, full bodied palate with crisp, lively acids adding freshness. The finish length is excellent. Tasted Apr/2018.
