Wine lover since 2001! My interest in wine began while touring the factory where they printed the LCBO VINTAGES magazine.
Over time, my passion for wine grew. Now, I am highly regarded by friends and colleagues as a resource for when they need a wine for that special occasion, be it an anniversary, birthday, wedding, gatherings at home, or when they want to impress their special friend or the In-Laws.
Combining my interest in the Internet/web/computers, you can find me at https://vintagewinepicks.blogspot.com where you will find more wine reviews, events and contests.

Pongrácz Brut Cap Classique Sparkling Chardonnay/Pinot Noir, Traditional Method, Wo Western Cape, South Africa
Western Cape, South Africa$17.95
Blend of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay. Clean, highly fragrant aromas of brioche, autolytic, and toast layered over nuanced notes of honey, lemony citrus, and almond. It's very fine on the palate with smooth, finely beaded bubbles and creamy textured mousse. The flavour profile is dry with lovely autolytic, brioche, and lemon citrus notes with touches of honey. It has fine acidity and a somewhat textural, chalky grip on the mid-palate. Leesy and mineral notes linger on the long, mouth-watering finish. Lovely! Last tasted Dec/2020.
Ruffino Modus 2012, Igt Toscana
Tuscany, Italy$29.95
Blend of 50% Sangiovese, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 25% Merlot. Medium-high intensity nose offering floral, red cherry and earthy aromas. The palate is medium-full bodied with nicely balanced aroma replays plus some cassis and mint notes adding complexity. It has fresh acids and chalky tannins. Long finish. Better in 1-2 years. Tasted Nov/2015.
Château Siaurac 2010, Ac Lalande De Pomerol
Bordeaux, France$44.95
This blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc pours deep ruby in colour. The maturing nose is intensely aromatic and complex with very attractive sweet baking spices, sweet plums, dried cherry, dried roses, and sandalwood aromas with savoury earth undertones. It's medium-full bodied on the spicy, slightly warm palate with dark berry, black cherry, blackberry, and plum flavours surrounding a savoury-earthy, and sweet spice core. Acids are well-balanced, while tannins are still a bit tight and grippy. Excellent length on the savoury, sweet spiced finish. Tasted Sept/2021.
Henry Of Pelham Speck Family Reserve Riesling 2013, VQA Short Hills Bench, Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$24.95
Medium+ intensity nose of mineral, petrol, white peach, and orange which continue on the medium-bodied and fleshy palate. Acids are a touch light, providing a softer mouthfeel. Long peachy finish. Tasted June/2016.
D'arenberg The Dead Arm Shiraz 2010, Mclaren Vale
South Australia, Australia$54.95
Highly aromatic savoury nose with meaty and barnyard aromas leading the way, with underlying black fruits. Big and full-bodied on the palate, it has black fruit, chocolate and cocoa flavours. It's well-balanced with fine acids and silky, velvety tannins. Excellent length on the finish. Drink over the next 8-10 years. Tasted May/2015.
Auntsfield Single Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc 2014, Southern Valleys
Marlborough, New Zealand$21.95
Classic NZ Sauvignon Blanc aromas of gooseberry, kiwi and grass that are inviting and of medium-to-high intensity. Fresh, bright acids and pleasing aroma replays on the palate. Very good length on the finish. 5% of this wine was aged in French oak for 6 months. Tasted May/2015. Score: 90+ pts
Concha Y Toro Terrunyo Andes Pirque Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2012, Las Terrazas Block, Pirque Vineyard, Maipo Valley
Maipo Valley, Chile$34.95
Medium-to-high complex aromatics featuring mint, herbs, eucalypt, red & black fruits and subtle oak spice. It's full-bodied with taut tannins and very nice aroma replays. Acids are well-balanced. Finish is long with currant, mint and some minerally notes. Should improve over the next 2-3 years. Tasted Oct/2015.
St. Urbans Hof Old Vines Riesling 2014, Qualitätswein
Mosel, Germany$21.95
Medium intensity nose of orange, citrus and tropical fruit notes that also show up on the lovely, sweet palate. It has bracing acids and very good length on the finish. Tasted May/2015.
Luce Della Vite Luce 2012, Igt Toscana
Tuscany, Italy$119.95
Captivating medium-to-high intensity aromas of purple flowers, exotic spice, and black cherry which echo very nicely on the full-bodied palate. Mouth-watering acidity. Firm tannins are integrated nicely. Excellent length on the finish. Good structure will allow this wine to drink well over the next 15 years. Tasted Nov/2015.
Faustino I Gran Reserva 2004, Doca Rioja
Rioja, Spain$31.95
Medium+ intensity nose with earth, umami, dried fruits, and floral aromatics. Tannins are resolved, offering a smooth mouthfeel and nice aroma replays on the palate. Acids are still quite good for a 12-year-old wine. Finishes long. Tasted Sept/2016.
