I was surprised by this, I was expecting to be underwhelmed especially by the fruits, but that was not the case. Aromas of perfume, cedar, cherry, and raspberry. The flavours were the same with some blueberries, oak and minerals. Medium plus finish and medium acidity. Nice stuff.- Feb 2024

At the start, this wine smelled like potting soil, plum, red fruit, dried fruit, molasses, and sweet herbs with violet coming after some decanting. The aromas translate on the palate along with vanilla and baking spice with nice acidity and dry tannins at the end. The tannins did soften just as the violet started to show. good QPR

This is chile on the nose and a little on the tongue that's for sure. Bell pepper aromas, rubber, tree bark, and black cherry.

A juicy wine with soft tannins and a hint of vanilla, baking spice, brown sugar, and cherry pie. The five grams of sugar becomes noticeable after time in the glass

Château Magnol 2018, A.C. Haut Médoc

Pop n Pour the aromas came bursting out of the glass during the first pour, cranberry, cherry, violet, plum, oak and ash. This was a juicy wine with plum, cherry, white pepper, cedar, and a menthol finish. Approachable tannins with nice acidity to make this a very nice burger wine at a great price. I'll be a buyer of the strong vintage years like the upcoming 2022 release.- Feb 24 2025

Aromas of grass, apple, melon, and pear. The palate was the same along with cream, lemon and saline

Château Hyot 2019, Ac Castillon Côtes De Bordeaux

Medium ruby with intense aromas of tree bark, oak, vanilla, green tea, and brown sugar which all settle after some time to reveal violet.

The palate on the other hand is not as in your face as the nose with medium minus flavours of smoke, licorice, vanilla, oak, cedar, and a hint of plum. Dry medium minus finish.

I would give this another two years and maybe the fruits will shine instead of those oak influences. A lot of potential for this wine if that were to happen.

Josh Reserve Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2019, Alexander Valley, Sonoma County

Medium purple wine with medium minus-intensity aromas of blackberry, raspberry, oak, dried herbs, smoke, vanilla, and a hint of black pepper.

Medium flavours of blackberry, black cherry, vanilla, and smoke. Medium plus acidity with soft tannins and medium finish.

This has the typical California profile but holds back just enough to enjoy especially with burgers.
