Villa Sandi Pinot Grigio 2012, Veneto Igt
Italy$10.95
I agree with Steve. This is a very pleasant wine for the price.
Rio Madre 2011
Rioja, Spain$14.95
I was warned this wine is unusual, but it has a sour taste that I associate with cheap wine. It does not work for me.
Beso De Vino Old Vine Garnacha 2011, Carinena
Aragón, Spain$9.95
Rhubarb and spice, with a bit of a chocolate finish. Smooth all the way. It is a bit sweet, but it works. Superb value for the price.
Fielding Estate Pinot Noir 2012, VQA Lincoln Lakeshore, Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$24.95
Smooth and flawless enough to rate 90, it has just enough complexity to bump it up to a 91. Starts wonderful, and stays that way after three glasses. Fielding was the last winery we visited, and I am sure glad I did not miss it, as it was one of the best. Great view too!
Vila Regia 2013, Douro Valley, Portugal
Portugal$7.95
Cherry with a hint of vanilla. Cherry finish. Reasonably smooth, and amazing value. Did I mention cherry?
Casa Dea Gamay 2013, Prince Edward County
Ontario, Canada$15.95
Very pleasant, with not much to complain about. Good value.
Cave Spring Gamay 2017, Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$16.95
This is a truly enjoyable wine to drink. It seems to gain richness and complexity that is not evident from the first taste. I prefer it to some of the more expensive and better rated Gamay wines.
Umberto Fiore Barbaresco 2006
Piedmont, Italy$18.75
My bottle says 2008, but this is the closest listing I could find. It is really good, a real Barbaresco for only sixteen bucks. I would like to do a blind test against the $40 versions, as to me this is just as good. An amazing buy.
Mil Piedras Viognier 2010, Mendoza
Argentina$11.95
I agree with Sara. I did not taste hard acid or sulphur. It was all good, and great value.
Thorn Clarke Terra Barossa Merlot 2010, Barossa
Australia$13.05
Smooth and fruity, there are no flaws in this excellent value wine. Not quite enough complexity to rate it a 90, but I will be buying more of this one.
