Domaine Raphaël Sallet Mâcon Uchizy 2011, Ac
Burgundy, France$15.95
Nice clean, slightly mineral taste. Amazing quality for the price, you can pay more than twice as much for this quality. I will buy more of this one.
Ciù Ciù Merlettaie Pecorino Offida 2011, Docg
Marche, Italy$16.95
Very pleasant, but it seems to decline a bit after the second glass. So it is best enjoyed one glass per night.
Casa Dea Pinot Noir 2010, VQA Prince Edward County
Ontario, Canada$19.95
At first it had a slightly raw taste, but it really grew on me. It started at 88 and ended at 90, so I will take the average. Excellent value for twenty dollars. Bought at the winery.
Matetic Corralillo Sauvignon Blanc 2012, San Antonio Valley
San Antonio Valley, Chile$14.95
Bright, fresh, at touch of mineral and lots of lime, this is as good as anything from New Zealand, except it is only fourteen bucks.
Trapiche Broquel Malbec 2011, Mendoza
Argentina$14.95
If given a lot of time in the carafe, it starts smooth, and grows with time. It has a rich, almost chocolate flavour. I have bought six so far. Excellent value for everyday wine.
Trius Sauvignon Blanc 2012, VQA Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$14.95
Clean and pure taste, more subtle than the New Zealand lemon/lime explosions. I like it a lot.
Quinta Dos Carvalhais Duque De Viseu Red 2009
Dão, Portugal$13.95
I agree with the other reviewers, this is excellent value.
Château St. Jean Fumé Blanc 2011, Sonoma County
California, Usa$18.95
Decent wine, but I have had much better for less than twenty bucks. It does not have the magic in it do deserve a 90, in my opinion.
Clifford Bay Pinot Noir 2011
Marlborough, New Zealand$19.95
Simple and fairly smooth, but there is not a lot of interest here. I can taste the lemon-lime undertone common to many New Zealand wines, but it does not overwhelm the wine. It does not quite take me where I want to go for twenty dollars.
Planets De Prior Pons 2009
Priorat, Spain$24.95
My first impression was an incredible smoothness and purity on the bouquet and the taste. It just got better and better. Maybe the impression by some reviewers that it is not ready was solved by a few hours in the carafe. It started with the subtlety of a Pinot Noir, and evolved to the power of a Chateauneuf du Pape, with an amazing peppery finish. There are still some left at this writing; I am going to stock up on this one.
