Wegeler Riesling Spälese 2007, Qmp, Wehlener Sonnenuhr, Estate Btld.
Mosel, Germany$30.00
LCBO Old World Germany 6/8
tasting notes "money"
this wine is definitely my favourite out of the tastings of German wines- go figure that it is also more expensive!
It is very sweet but incredibly balanced.
I would definitely purchase if I wanted to show off a unique/special wine from Germany.
A little pricey. So again, it would be a special occasion wine
De Bortoli Noble One Botrytis Semillon 2008, New South Wales (375ml)
New South Wales, Australia$31.95
LCBO New World Australia

GREAT dessert wine- sweet but very well balanced.
would purchase for a dessert wine or just a nice treat
Barossa Valley Estate Moculta Shiraz 2007, Barossa Valley, South Australia
Australia$19.90
LCBO New World Wine- 7/8
Very good- good value for a syrah- exactly how it is described. nice dry finish.
Would purchase- but would rather spend another 5$ to get the Wolf Blass Gold Label Shiraz
Emilio Lustau East India Solera Sherry, Do Jerez (375ml)
Andalusia, Spain$16.95
Very nice sherry-
tawny
toffee, molasses, sweet, pecan pie, spice pumpkin
would buy it and drink it if i were into sherry. i am not.
Alejandro Fernandez Tinto Pesquera Crianza 2008, Do Ribera Del Duero
Ribera Del Duero, Spain$26.95
LCBO Old world-
This is the type of wine I would get if I were trying to impress someone that i knew had a mature palette- this is a typical spanish red of "old style" and would do some good to age-
i didn't like it at all.
smelled like feet, wood
medium tannins, syrupy and earthy
had an old world complexity that i could just not appreciate.
no.
Ridge Lytton Springs 2009, Dry Creek Valley, Sonoma County
California, Usa$50.95
New World LCBO 8/8
-tar, smoke- yes!
-very typical sirah taste- juicy
i enjoy but unfort not good value for me.
Piper Heidsieck Brut, Champagne
Champagne, France$66.35
Enjoyed this at a wine tasting- LCBO Old World Wine appreciation course.
Very nice- Champagne is never my first choice. Nor is it my second, third fourth...
you get the picture.
But I really enjoyed this. Very clean on the palate. Fresh and citrus-forward.
Beringer Cabernet Sauvignon 2008, Knights Valley, Sonoma County
California, Usa$39.95
New World LCBO 7/8
-spice, meatspice
- i like the flavour a lot, not the tanning- would need aging or a lot of breathing
-aroma very nice when breathes
-i woudl let it sit for awhile
definite, toasty oak, coffee, vanilla and spice notes
-not particularly good value.
Saltram Mamre Brook Cabernet Sauvignon 2008, Barossa Valley, South Australia
South Australia, Australia$23.25
LCBO New World Wine- Australia 5/8
A very very good wine
- slightly sweeter than I prefer (I like extra dry)- You can definitely taste the licorice, plum, and mushroom flavour.
Would purchase- moderate price for a fairly balanced wine.
K W V Cathedral Cellar Cabernet Sauvignon 2008, Western Cape
South Africa$15.95
(Had the 2009)
Asked for a recommendation for a stand-in wine we had in NY from the Canary Islands- had the smoke flavour from the soil-
I told them my flavour profile:
Medium to full bodied
Dry to V. dry
Peppery and/or spicy
I do well with descriptors that include "black" or "dark" i.e. "black fruit", "dark cherry", chocolate etc.
They suggested this wine for us.
Spot on.
delicious and amazing value!
