D'arenberg D'arry's Original Shiraz Grenache 2008, Mclaren Vale, South Australia
Australia$19.95
LCBO New World Wine- Australia 4/8
This is a very good, but not great shiraz-grenache. It has ripe berry and lots of fruit. Juicy and slightly peppery.
Not great value for what I would be looking for- I prefer something less fruity
would not purchase.
-great for a shiraz lover that likes shiraz for the berry and fruity qualities.
Lacoste Borie 2008, Ac Pauillac, 2nd Wine Of Château Grand Puy Lacoste
Bordeaux, France$29.90
fourth./final Red at LCBO Old World Wine appreciation:
-Crimson, brown red
-woody, musty, smoke
-medium firm tannins
-smoke and vanilla flavour
-round and soft finish- long finish
-dry
Good wine but I feel like I could find something comparable for less.
Well balanced but I'm not sure I would call it good value.

Ontario, Canada$34.95
LCBO Wine Appreciation -Canada 2/8
-straw yello, distinctive smell- butter, hay

good, but pricey.
Duckhorn Merlot 2009, Napa Valley
California, Usa$59.95
New World LCBO 6/8
-alcohol smell
-subtle, low acid, dry
-delicate, medium bodied
0 I would drink it alone- would not particulalry pair with food
-very good
ok, but not outstanding for the price
- would NOT pair it with bison burger or steak. would definitely pair it with something more delicate like a portobello burger, casserole with some red tomato-based sauce, or mushroom based food.
a meaty mushroom.
Guy Farge Terre De Granit St Joseph 2009, Ac
Rhône, France$21.95

-deep red/ purple
-woody and earthy on the nose
-Oaked, barnyard
-surprisingly round finish- long finish
-well paired with roast beef, duck- a fatty red meat.
Joffré E Hijas Premium Merlot 2004, Uco Valley, Mendoza
Argentina$20.80
LCBO Wine Appreciation -South America 4/8
Nice sample of a warm climate merlot- Have converted me to only warm climate merlot's if I were to drink a straight up merlot
-plum, soft vanilla, hints of lavendar
-you can really taste the gentle touch of the french oak.
-lucious, smoother
-medium nice finish
-very nice-gets better as it breathes
-can be enjoyed right away.
-might purchase- but there is better value out there. very good though
