Klein Constantia Vin De Constance 2008 (500ml)
Western Cape, South Africa$65.25
Now among my favorite desert wines. The bouquet has precision , pine resin, dried orange peel and orchard fruit (nectarine / peach / apricot), herbs, spice ... Good acidity and not too sweet / syrupy. Great finish and balance, and has distinct SA character.
Norman Hardie Winery & Vineyard Pinot Noir 2015, VQA Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$45.20
Nice unfiltered pinot. Sweet cherry and strawberry, hints of spice, velevety...fruit forward and delicious..lots of substance and subdued alcohol
Domaine Olivier Pithon Cuvée Lais 2016
Languedoc, France$29.25
Natural wine with structure and sense of place while retaining its quaffability. Juicy, crinchy, dark and red friuit. Delicious
Stags' Leap Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2014
California, Usa$59.95
Very well made napa cab, excellent structure and length, cassis, dark fruit and peppery without over-the-top jam or oak. Very young, and very good..has "aiuthentic" cabernet character. This will be phenomenal once the savory flavors kick in with a couple of years on its side
Château Yvonne La Folie 2014, Saumur Champigny
Loire, France$27.30
Granted the bottle was not open for more than a few minutes, but i found this to be resting too firmly on the fruit profile (a good concentration that most would love). I for one enjoy a good dose of well-integrated greenness in my CF. That being said, this has great structure and balance, a quality wine.
Moulins De Citran 2009, Second Wine Of Château Citran, Ac Haut Médoc
Bordeaux, France$24.75
Cedar, iodine, leaf and subtle fruit. Flavor profile Seems Somewhat Evolved goal the tannic structure is intense, making this necessitate food. OK
De Morgenzon Reserve Chenin Blanc 2015
Stellenbosch, South Africa$39.95
Good concentration goal Held together with acid and mineral character.
Mas La Plana 2011
Penedès, Spain$65.00
Second tasting blew me away. When first tasted this it was very closed, tasted it this week after being opened for almost a day and it blew me away. Meshes the classic and modern Cabernet styles with distinct spanish character . It is extraced and ripe but far from flabby, the typical peppery/dark fruit new world cab profile blends in perfectly with its very savory side (think a hint of high quality tempranillo mixed in). It also has great acidity and structure. While this is sure to please both bordeaux and new world cab fans, it has enough acidity to satisfy those who prefer more light
