Donnafugata Anthìlia Bianco 2009, Igt Sicilia
Sicily, Italy$12.85
Medium straw with slight green tinge. Intense nose of citrus, banana, honey, confection, apple, apricot, some floral and minerality. Dry, quite crisp with a medium body but a slightly short finish. Crisp and aromatic, drink now. March 2011.
Cattier Premier Cru Brut Champagne 2002, Ac, Chigny Les Roses
Champagne, France$49.95
Straw-gold, med+ intensity with aromas of dates, apple juice, earth, yeast, hay. Dry, impression of medium alcohol, high acid with a medium mouthfeel and powerful flavours. Has some complexity. I found some bitterness on finish but quite long. Feb 2011.
La Valentina Spelt Montepulciano D'abruzzo 2005, Doc
Abruzzo, Italy$28.95
Dark ruby moving to garnet. An intense nose of dark fruits, blackberry, earth and spice. Dry with plentiful smooth tannins. A medium weight mid-palate adds more fruit, sour cherry, oak and more earth. Medium plus acid. Decent finish. Nice. March 2011.

Bodegas Patrocinio Señorio De Uñuela Crianza 2006, Doca Rioja
Spain$14.95
Medium ruby with a hint of garnet. Cherry, plum, blackcurrant, smoke, earth, cedar. Dry, a fair amount of tannin but seems well integrated, medium acidity and a fairly long finish that maintains some nice fruit. March 2011.
Domaine Fleurot Nuits St Georges 2007, Ac
Burgundy, France$44.95
Among the cherry and red fruit aromas there was a hint of garlic/onion along with a vegetal aroma. A dry wine that adds more berry fruit on the palate with fairly light tannins, good acidity and a hint of wood. Much better on the palate than the nose. It is a bit different and I suspect some may like it and others not so much. Feb 2011.
Corte Majoli Ripasso Valpolicella 2007, Doc, Superiore
Veneto, Italy$16.95
