I learned to love the tasty juice through my education at George Brown College. I believe there is a perfect bottle for every occasion. I like my Italians Red, my Frenchies White, my Americanos black, and my Brazilians blonde. I believe wine goes with food, with friends, with music, and with days of the week that end in Y.
Cheers to getting your wine on.

Salterio Albariño 2010, Do Rías Baixas
Spain$17.95
Albariño is so fun to say in a fake Spanish accent. Try it… This white grape
thrives in the coastal Vineyards of Northwestern Spain. Drinking this is like waking up beside a fruit tree after a big bender (like this hasn’t happened to you). This wine smells like morning grass, something sweet…. and Holy Albariño your mouth is dry. Nice and acidic, it pairs with BBQ’d prosciutto wrapped scallops.
Bodegas Lan Crianza 2007, Doca Rioja
Rioja, Spain$15.95
Case this sucker up. This is my one year anniversary for this blog and one of my favorite wines has been re-released. Thank you Mr. LAN. www.getyourwineon.ca
Trivento Amado Sur Malbec/Bonarda/Syrah 2009, Mendoza
Mendoza, Argentina$16.95
Here is this years first great value. A delicious Malbec blend that is perfectly priced for that Tuesday night tipple. You’ll be like Pooh bear on a pot of honey. It’s nice and plump, nice and sweet and it’ll put a perma-grin on your face. Throw on your red collared shirt that doesn’t cover your belly and lick this up with a wee bit of lamb sausage.
Volpaia Chianti Classico 2008
Tuscany, Italy$27.95
Very nice Chianti here. Get on it. Made from cooler vineyards up on the hills of Tuscany. Its like Adele singing your favorite song on the piano. It looks pretty good, has some great raspy depth and packs a cute little zip. When you’re done chasing pavement, serve this with spaghetti and meatballs.
Baglio Di Pianetto Shymer 2008, Igt Sicilia
Sicily, Italy$15.95
Sicily is a smoking hot wine region that pumps out a ton of good value product. This is a blend of Syrah and Merlot that is “creepy” good. Like Steppenwolf holding a bowl of chocolate covered acacia berries. It smells great, but don’t go with them little girl, on their magic carpet ride. You’re born to be wild, so serve this up with a Toscana sheep milk Cheese. (PS I know it’s a band, not one guy!)
Grove Street Cabernet Sauvignon 2008, Sonoma County
California, Usa$19.95
I’m all over this like a fat kid on a chocolate bunny. This slides down your gullet like a viscous milk chocolate fondue. It goes perfect with a roast leg of lamb, but please make sure Momma pulls it out of the oven before it turns ashen grey.
Maison Roche De Bellene Côtes Du Nuits Villages 2009, Ac
Burgundy, France$19.95
Pinotfiles rejoice. $20 Burgundian Pinot…. its a steal. Its like riding a horse on the prairies while eating a dulce de leche gelato. This has a fresh farm stench with a great sprinkling of caramelized brown sugar and like the view, the finish lasts a long time. Get off those warm climate Pinots and stick your nose in this. Put some Keith Urban on, saddle up, and serve it up with some stinky sheep brie.
Bodegas Lan Crianza 2006, Doca Rioja
Spain$15.95
Welcome to my mouth you easy drinker you. This Rioja doesn't need a complicated partner. It goes well with Tuesdays nights, anything off the grill and that new Radiohead song. It's 5 years old and costs 15 bucks! You can't lose. Buy 6 before I get 'em all.
Peachy Canyon Westside Zinfandel 2007, Paso Robles
California, Usa$24.95
Millions of Peaches, peaches for me. Paso Robles wine growing takes place halfway between LA and San Fran. Zins are not for the faint of heart, they are high sugar grapes that are produced into wines upwards of 15% alcohol. However, they produce amazing mouth filling wines with raspberry scents and a peppery taste. I’m moving to the country to drink me a lot of Peachy Canyon (name the band). Get to the LCBO before I buy em’ all and serve em at my ribfest.
Mount Riley Sauvignon Blanc 2011, Marlborough
Marlborough, New Zealand$16.95
Every time I read the word Mount, I think of my buddies little amorous dog. This Sauv Blanc will make everyone happy. It’s like walking little Riley in the park on a clear winter day. Its fresh and crisp, puts a skip in your step and it’ll get your little friend so excited, he’ll mount up for a quick shin bone ride. Kick off the passenger and serve this well chilled with roasted asparagus.
