This wine needed two hours to erase the carmenere like herbaceousness. Once that was done it became a fine austere cab franc. Dark fruit and coffee like the bottle says.

Classic Niagara Cab/Franc nose of roasted green bell peppers, smoky cherries and oak. This wine drinks classy with delicacy. Even though 2008 was a horrible vintage for reds in Niagara, this wine perseveres with quality tannins and a suave mouth feel. The flavours are consistent with the nose, adding hits of smoky raspberries that resembles Pinot noir. The flavours linger on the finish for a long while. Great job, for a challenging vintage!

Dark ruby in the glass. Dark berry and a bit of green pepper on the nose. Not very complex. Nice fresh acidity and smooth, supple tannins. Medium-light body. Medium length on the finish. Was hoping for a bit more out of this, especially since I'm a fan of Ontario cab franc. Tasted March 2012.

Perfumed nose of red flowers, spicy dark fruit. Medium mouth feel. Good complexity for price.
