Stone Dwellers Cabernet Sauvignon 2009, Strathbogie Ranges, Southwest
Australia$20.00
Nice full-bodied Cab' from Australia that is sweet and green at the same time. Only con is the level of heat that is a bit distracting to fully enjoy. Tasted November 2013.
Collin Bourisset Douce Folie Saint Amour 2011
Beaujolais, France$16.75
Light-to-medium-bodied & fruity wine that was quite tart at the start but opened up nicely after 30-60 minutes. All in all, a solid value in the Beaujolais universe. Tasted November 2013.
Santa Carolina Reserva De Familia Cabernet Sauvignon 2009, Maipo Valley
Maipo Valley, Chile$17.95
Very nice, dense, full-bodied Cabernet-Sauvignon with a long, smooth finish. When I saw how dark this wine was when I poured the first glass, I had the feeling this would be an enjoyable experience...which was comfirmed with the first glass. Safe bet when you have guests. Going back to buy some more and repeat this nice experience. Tasted January 2012.
Château De Ciffre Terroirs D'altitude Saint Chinian 2011
Languedoc, France$14.75
Decent Syrah-Grenache blend from the south of France with a little bit too much heat to deserve a higher score. Tasted February 2015.
Deen De Bortoli Vat 8 Shiraz 2008, Southeastern Australia
Australia$8.95
Perfect wine when you want to play it safe during a Christmas party with lots of people with different tastes. Was very well received by my guests. I found it pleasant to drink. Nice dry Shiraz. Tried in December 2011.
D'arenberg The Stump Jump Grenache Shiraz Mourvedre 2009, South Australia
Australia$14.95
Used to be a big fan of the 2008 vintage, but the 2009 is just not there yet. I will wait until at least summer 2012 before I try it again.
Castelgreve Chianti Classico Riserva 2009, Docg
Tuscany, Italy$19.95
Authentic Chianti Classico and better. Going Riserva truly makes a difference. Decant 30 to 60 minutes for optimal enjoyment but not much more than that. Tasted May 2014.
Terredora Aglianico 2010, Igt Campania
Campania, Italy$16.95
Classic Italian wine that comes from a region south of Naples, Italy. Very impressive wine for the price. Will get better after some decanting. Tasted December 2013.
Two Hands Gnarly Dudes Shiraz 2009, Barossa Valley, South Australia
Australia$24.95
Outstanding Shiraz. Very smooth and long finish. A crowd pleaser for sure...keep in mind for your Christmas parties. Tasted December 2011.
