Jim Barry The Lodge Hill Shiraz 2013, Clare Valley, South Australia
South Australia, Australia$21.95
Heartland Shiraz 2012, Langhorne Creek
South Australia, Australia$18.95
This was a dark blackberry, peppery offering that we enjoyed with a mixed grill. I will buy a second and put it away for a year or two, which should help to round it out a bit. Enjoyable.
Monte Pinadillo Crianza 2010, Do Ribera Del Duero
Ribera Del Duero, Spain$19.95
Wow. Classic Spanish beauty Blackberry and spice hit at the start, followed by a sandalwood and dark berry taste. Long finish brings it home.
Montes Alpha Cabernet Sauvignon 2014
Colchagua Valley, Chile$19.95
This was a decent cab but a little too much of the Chilean green for my taste to warrant a 90. Still a decent wine for the sale price.
Finca Villacreces Pruno 2011
Ribera Del Duero, Spain$21.95
Dark fruit tastes and nice acidity. Worked well with lamb stew. Very nice but not outstanding. 89/90
Casas Del Bosque Gran Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon 2014, Maipo Valley
Maipo Valley, Chile$21.25
Had this with grilled steak, March 2019. Great pair, ready to drink now but should hold up for a while yet. Big win, long finish.
Magnotta Venture Series Pinot Grigio 2017, Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$13.45
This was reasonable but not even close to a 91. No idea what they were drinking.
Luis Felipe Edwards Lfe 900 Single Vineyard Blend 2014, Colchagua Valley
Colchagua Valley, Chile$21.25
Nov 2021 - this is drinking beautifully now. Full bodied, well integrated, dark red fruit. Fantastic with a pan seared steak with red wine reduction (this wine is too good to waste on the reduction - use sparingly).
Gallo Family Frei Ranch Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2009, Dry Creek Valley, Sonoma County
California, Usa$19.95
a big, oaky, cali cab-sav. Very nice, hold or drink with a rib-eye or strong cheese.
