Firestone Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2010, Santa Ynez Valley
California, Usa$16.90
This was a fine Cali Cab-sav, certainly fruit-forward. Big cassis hit, this would be very popular to the masses. Loved it with my NY-strip loin. Recommened.
Königschaffhausener Vulkanfelsen Trocken Pinot Gris 2011, Qba Baden
Baden, Germany$13.95
Very enjoyable pinot gris, bought two more.
Dec. 2014 update. Went from an 89 to a 90 for me. Wish I had tucked away a few more yet.
Castellani Filicheto Vino Nobile Di Montepulciano 2009, Docg
Tuscany, Italy$18.95
This dry red went well with eggplant Parm with some pasta in a light red sauce. Decant for 1 hour.
Domaine Les Grands Bois Cuvée Philippine Côtes Du Rhône Villages 2010, Ac
Rhône, France$18.95
Very nice with beef Stroganoff.
Falernia Reserva Syrah 2009, Elquí Valley
Chile$19.95
This was a dense thriller with blackberry aromas, great fruit taste, and lots of power. Would have lasted longer but ready to drink now with a steak.
Tilenus Envejecido En Roble 2007, Do Bierzo
Galicia, Spain$17.95
Dark cherries/black raspberries on the nose, followed by well integrated flavours finishing nicely with a hint of caramel. Wow this was great with lamb and wild mushroom stew. Wish I had bought more than one bottle.
Abbona Papà Celso 2010, Docg Dogliani
Piedmont, Italy$19.75
very enjoyable. Pasta with red meat sauce.
Santa Rita Sauvignon Blanc Reserva 2011, Casablanca Valley
Chile$13.95
more green pepper than the typical passionfruit aromas, quite nice. 88/89
Chianti Classico Riserva Rocca Delle Macie 2008
Italy$22.95
Fine example. Perfect with spaghetti and meatballs.
Jean Geiler Gold Medal Muscat D'alsace 2011, Ac Alsace
Alsace, France$16.95
Nice appertif wine. Tastes just slightly off-dry.
