K W V Cathedral Cellar Cabernet Sauvignon 2008, Western Cape
South Africa$15.95
This is a very nice cab sauv for $15 - full bodied, black current, leather, earthy taste. Good steak wine, bought 3 more. 89-90.
Emiliana Novas Petit Verdot 2011, Colchagua Valley
Chile$15.95
Nose of cassis and tastes of various dark fruit. Very nice. Tasted Nov-14, but this could have waited a few more years to fully come together. Likely a 90 in a year or two.
Villa Mt. Eden Grand Reserve Bien Nacido Chardonnay 2007, Santa Maria Valley
California, Usa$19.95
Over-the-top, banana and pineapple aroma, followed by flavours like a butterscotch Sunday. Have with something big and worthy, like pasta with wild mushroom/cream sauce, or wild mushroom/chicken risotto. Fantastic.
De Wetshof Finesse Lesca Estate Chardonnay 2012, Wo Robertson
Robertson, South Africa$14.75
Very nice, fresh tropical fruit, mineral influenced, lightly oaked. All good.
Small Gully Mr. Black's Little Book Shiraz 2010, Barossa Valley
South Australia, Australia$18.95
Wonderfull Shiraz, bought two more.
Tar & Roses Tempranillo 2011, Heathcote/Alpine Valleys
Victoria, Australia$15.25
Found the predominant flavour to be oak here.
Ferrari Iris & Figli 2011, Doc Bolgheri
Tuscany, Italy$14.75
March 2015 - this seems to be coming together nicely but has some room for improvement yet I think. Bought a second and third bottle ($14.25) to keep for 2016. Might be a 90 by then. Pasta with meatballs.
