Poeira Dusty 2010, Doc Douro
Douro, Portugal$16.75
Dusty is appropos. Dry and tannic, in the manner of a Barolo. This was good, but I really did not pick up any fruit notes. I think it may have benefited from another year in the cellar to round it out a bit. Definitely worth the discount bin price of $16.75.
Needs a salty steak to go with.
Vineland Estates Dry Riesling 2012, VQA Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$14.95
Top value Riesling. Citrus aromas and lively acidity.
Ferrari Iris & Figli 2011, Doc Bolgheri
Tuscany, Italy$14.75
March 2015 - this seems to be coming together nicely but has some room for improvement yet I think. Bought a second and third bottle ($14.25) to keep for 2016. Might be a 90 by then. Pasta with meatballs.
Chapel Hill Cabernet Sauvignon 2008, Mclaren Vale
South Australia, Australia$26.95
Big, beautiful cab sauv. Classic cassis on the nose, layers of flavour like waves, and a long finish. Top drawer.
Handpicked Regional Selections Shiraz 2018, Barossa Valley
South Australia, Australia$16.50
Very good, repeat buy
Valentin Bianchi Malbec 2013, San Rafael, Mendoza
Mendoza, Argentina$17.95
Reasonable. Not great even at the price point. Not a repeat buy.
Señorío De Sarría Viñedo No.8 Mazuelo Crianza 2009, Do Navarra
Navarra, Spain$17.95
July 2017 - agreed with the label synopsis. Drinking beautifully now. Try with lamb.
