Emiliana Novas Petit Verdot 2011, Colchagua Valley
Chile$15.95
Nose of cassis and tastes of various dark fruit. Very nice. Tasted Nov-14, but this could have waited a few more years to fully come together. Likely a 90 in a year or two.
Villa Mt. Eden Grand Reserve Bien Nacido Chardonnay 2007, Santa Maria Valley
California, Usa$19.95
Over-the-top, banana and pineapple aroma, followed by flavours like a butterscotch Sunday. Have with something big and worthy, like pasta with wild mushroom/cream sauce, or wild mushroom/chicken risotto. Fantastic.
Ovidio García Esencia Crianza 2009, Do Cigales
Spain$14.25
Had two bottles, the second of which was corked unfortunately. This was a very solid wine for the price, even the corked one was decent! Very food friendly.
Fabre Montmayou Reserva Malbec 2011, Mendoza
Mendoza, Argentina$15.95
Reasonable but definitely not a 90 in my opinion. Nothing complex here.
Masi Serego Alighieri Possessioni Rosso 2009, Veneto
Veneto, Italy$15.00
Nice $15 bottle, medium body, polished, berries/cherries/earthy, nice finish. Nice with prime rib.
Porca De Murça Reserva Tinto 2010, Doc Douro
Douro, Portugal$19.95
A bit on the fruity but uninteresting side. Not what I was expecting from a Duoro.
Bisquertt Ecos De Rulo Carmenère 2009, Colchagua Valley
Colchagua Valley, Chile$14.25
Big blackberry aroma, followed by dark fruit taste and elegant finish. Very nice.
La Sauvageonne Pica Broca 2008, Ac Coteaux Du Languedoc
Languedoc, France$12.90
This is a nice, food-friendly wine for $13 - recommended. 89+
