Bernard Massard Cuvée De L'écusson Brut Sparkling, Traditional Method Bottle
Bernard Massard Cuvée De L'écusson Brut Sparkling, Traditional Method
Luxembourg, World
$17.75

Good quality, great value traditional sparkler. Pleasant and fruity aromatics of baked lemon pie, yellow apple and pear. Steady, consistent and fine mousse persist on the glass with a light straw and green tinge. The palate is lively, crisp but with a slight fruity sweetness that relays the apple and pear notes. Pair with sushi, light tapas. Drink now. Tasted Oct '13

This is a tasting of the 08. In 08 JT switched their label series, the Meritage is now under the Black Label, same price, screw cap, VQA NP.
Niagara style cabmerlot on the nose, green bell pepper, smoky meat, and coffee grinds in the compost. Juicy red cranberry up front with that peppery coffee and celery in the middle through to finish. Medium tannins with abundant acid.
Very typical of Niagara reds, expressive of clay-loam soils. I find it to be worth the price, and if you like Niagara style it is quite enjoyable.
Pepperoni sticks, dry ribs, nacho cheese Doritos.

This is not a rose. All Riesling, Dry but has the slightest touch of sweetness. Taste like NOTL Riesling some apricot, lemon, green apple. Very refreshing and easy to "put back". Raisin bread and apple on the nose. Bubbles are not delicate by any means. but still has a good moutfeel. Goes with anything sushi or light seafood, or sitting on a beach with a bag of chips and a ghetto blaster. Amazing value, have had before and will continue to buy more.

Great value blend. Mostly Chardonnay blend with some Vidal, this makes an interesting blend that suits Niagara varitels. Value based wine, delivers on quality, has some body to stand up to roast chicken or fish and chips. Peachy and floral on the nose, good weight and acid on the finish. Recommended for the pinot grigio crowd.

I like this wine but it needs 2 yrs for the tannin to come in line with the spice and dry fruit character. Vibrant ruby with a midnite-garnet hue. Smells like a fresh bamboo spice box filled with clove, dried orange peel, pink peppercorn, toast and coffee bean. Warm raisins, red cherry and mint tea aromas linger on the surface. The mouthfeel is big and dry with gum clenching tannin that looks for parmigiano.Dried Corvina grapes make a great mix of bitterness while retaining the fresh acidity of red berry fruits like cherry and currants. Salty hard cheese or dark chocolate. Tasted Oct '11

A big wine. Deep midnight purple in the glass with violet rim. New world, high altitude on the nose with big dark black and stewed red fruits. Vanilla, creamy oak, spicy pepper and chocolate earthcakes. The palate is xtra dry and full bodied with huge ripe tannins. Blackberry, blackcherry and grippy wood on the finish. This wind needs 4yrs, drink 2014-2018, or tonite with pulled pork burgers. Tasted Nov "11

Straw colour with greenish tinge. Lime, grass, wet chopped parsley and apple on the nose. Vibrant at the front with sour yellow plum, asparagus, parsnips and lemon. Soft texture, with good acidity, slight bitterness on the finish. A bit sour but good for the price. Drink with quiche, goats cheese tarts or grilled shrimp. Tasted June 11.

Feb '11. Rich deep colour with a purple sheen, probably looked inky 6 yrs ago. Mocha Mole Frappacino wafting out of the glass, with traces of date or dried blackberry. Moderate dried fruit on the front palate. tannin and acid have probably weakened over time as they are perceived to be low, with a high alcohol finish that dominates. Still somewhat interesting. Probably peaked as a full bodied bbq steak wine in 09. Drink it now.

deep ruby purple colour, thick and deep.. Plummy jammy, polish high octane aromas. Merlot from sun rippened climate all over the aroma. Prune and chocolate with bluberry and jammy covered by an intense chemical marker finsih. This wine satisfy's for big juicy metlot, far from Niagara but I apprediate it. There are better wines from this producer, unfortuneately their name is getting too big.

yellow with green olive shades. Orange and tahini on the nose. Grapefruit pith, cotton oil, bitter on the end. Foggy, seaside mouthfeel, yet keeps drawing me back. It would be interesting to see what it would do with oysters or herring. tasted Apr '11
