Château Seguin 2008, Ac Pessac Léognan
Bordeaux, France$24.90
Okay so here we go. After you pull the cork take a sniff & you will know what's coming...wow so good.
The nose offers you aged mahogany & cedar wood, earthy mushrooms & rich soil with hints of sweetness, even caramel. The palate is silky smooth, i mean suave & provides plenty of woodsy caramel, bold coffee, and dark berries. It's creamy without being too dry. For a bad vintage, this wine blows your socks off. Even though it's drinking like a dream right now, it has the backbone to last a decade.
This wine really impressed me. Price 24.95, cheers!
Henry Of Pelham Reserve Cabernet/Merlot 2007, VQA Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$24.95
Great review Paul!
Domaine Gille Côtes De Nuits Villages 2008, Ac, Prop. Récolt.
Burgundy, France$23.40
funny little wine. the nose offers me a heavy dose of old world earthy barn yard and a funky new world artificial cherry - cotton-candy fruit. I also pick up wet turkey meat and sour cranberry sauce...sour cherries dominate the palate, it's dry, well made and focused. Missing some pinot love for me. Interesting but not amazing.
Álvaro Palacios Camins Del Priorat 2008, Doca Priorat
Spain$25.95
I found this wine too acidic and thin
The Paring Pinot Noir 2008
California, Usa$24.90
Wow Edward, good review! I agree with ya brother. It's a nice rich/ complex Cali pinot. At $32 it's actually a deal. Most Cali Pinots that share the same pazazz roll in at around $50 or higher. Kudos to the wine maker and the LCBO for no marking it up!
Coyote's Run Red Paw Vineyard Pinot Noir 2009, VQA Four Mile Creek, Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$24.95
needs another year in bottle to fully develop, but this is the best red paw pinot I have tasted from the good folks at Coyote's run. a mix of red berries, flowers and farm land soil emerge, the palate is silky smooth, dry and structured. The finish lingers and the balanced acidity begs you to keep sipping. What a beautiful expression of Niagara Pinot.
