Montecillo Reserva 2005, Rioja
Spain$17.95
always reliable - i've been drinking the montecillo for several years now - it's deff my go to wine.
Mission Hill Five Vineyards Pinot Noir 2009
British Columbia, Canada$17.95
When it come to cheap Pinot, I'm always intrigued... always looking for the one... like in the matrix when they find Neo...unfortunately this wine is not an amazing find. It's typical for the price, a bit hollow on the mid palate, the fruit is a tad austere and the finish is short. there is some nice creamy berry vanilla favours that satisfied me and it is well structured with some noticeable tannins. Just wish it went that extra mile. Rosewood's Pinot is the only Ontario pinot for under $20 that has really surprised me.
Calamus Reserve Red 2007, VQA Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$19.95
interesting similarities of Rioja emerge on the nose...on the palate however the wine is very light and has a slight balsamic vinegar taste that i do not fancy. It Has potential to be great but the quality of the fruit is questionable? a good easy going wine with character.
Kangarilla Road Charlie's Blend Shiraz Cabernet 2008, Mclaren Vale
Australia$14.25
juicy and smooth...what's not to like at this price?
Domaine Gueugnon Remond Grande Réserve Mâcon Charnay 2008, Ac Mâcon Charnay Lès Mâcon, Prop. Récolt.
Burgundy, France$16.95
Smells of fresh white flowers. Beautiful liquid silk with tropical fruits, smooth and buttery without being over oaked and a really nice fresh finish. Amazing for the price.
La Posta Cocina Blend 2008, Mendoza, A Laura Catena Selection
Argentina$12.95
What do i expect for 13 bucks......not much...but i'm always hoping i will be surprised. This bottle is well made, however brings no excitement to the table. Blah...
Tilia Cabernet Sauvignon 2009, Mendoza
Argentina$12.95
well made, but lacking flavour and complexity - Okay?
Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais 2009
Beaujolais, France$12.95
Nice easy going beaujolais that blossems with berry fruit and earthy forest soil notes, when paired with soft cheeses and a delicate filet mignon.
Henry Of Pelham Pinot Noir 2009, VQA Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$16.95
Light but fresh! Smoky cherry, burnt sugar nose leads to classic pinot notes on the palate. it's a bit light almost watery but with dusty tannins - so it's missing the silky nature of pinot. At this price, i'm happy with what it delivers.
Peachy Canyon Westside Zinfandel 2007, Paso Robles
California, Usa$24.95
Ryan Great review, I totally thought of that song as well. Great Song, funny stuff.
"Peaches come from a can,
They were put there by a man
In a factory downtown
If I had my little way,
I'd eat peaches every day
Sun-soakin' bulges in the shade"
