Ravine Vineyard Chardonnay 2010, VQA Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$24.00
Very Macon-Villages - it's an elegant chardonnay with a purity of butter and salty minerality at the forefront that adds undertones of caramel vanilla oak. A nice light sipper. Very suave.
Southbrook Triomphe Organic Cabernet Franc Rosé 2011, VQA Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$19.95
Seriously delicious. This is one of the best Rose's the Niagara region has ever produced. It coats your palate with mouth watering fruit, herbs and spices. Refreshing and luxurious.
Canonica A Cerreto Sandiavolo 2006, Igt Toscana
Tuscany, Italy$24.95
Kind of a muted note? I get burnt wood, char, ash and smoke. The fruit is really faint but perhaps blueberry puree. The palate is medium weight with really aggressive tannins. Finishes with a fine grade sandpaper on your tongue. Too astringent for me. 93 PTS JS...he must have tasted it after smoking a cigar.
Lapilli Beneventano Aglianico 2014, Igt
Campania, Italy$13.75
Smells like volcanic ash and cedar. The palate is dry and structured with hints of sweet oaK. Score = intriguing.
Château Gachon Cuvée Les Petits Rangas 2008, Ac Montagne St émilion
Bordeaux, France$17.95
Thin and uninspiring - very bland & almost watery. Not recommended.
Viña Tarapacá Gran Reserva Carmenère 2010, Maipo Valley, Chile
Maipo Valley, Chile$17.95
This wine is a beast. You need to decant it for a good three hours to unveil its excellence. Real firm tannins and structure. A stiff backbone.
Pondview Bella Terra Cabernet Franc 2009, VQA Four Mile Creek, Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$28.00
Get down to the winery and taste the 2010 vintage release... it's hands down the best single varietal Cab/ Franc I have every had. Packed with terroir driven fruit and earthiness, it's smoky and delicious. It has incredible concentration of fruit & remains perfectly balanced. Impressive and complex.
Concha Y Toro Serie Riberas Gran Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon 2009, Do Marchigue, Ribera Del Tinguiririca
Colchagua Valley, Chile$17.95
Lovin this wine! Both the nose and palate are impressive. It's a big fruity wine that not shy on oak, but it's contained with incredible balance. Terroir meets crowd pleaser? $15 bucks and hits 90 pts for real. Nice job.
Westside Red Troublemaker Blend 1, Paso Robles
California, Usa$19.95
a little fat and unfocused but deep, dark and delicious.
Tawse Growers Blend Pinot Noir 2010, VQA Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$24.95
This is the entry level "Bourgonge" from the Tawse folk and my my my is it ever a treat to drink. The quality of this wine demonstrates their pure love and dedication to burgundian varietals...reminds me of Village Burgundy...or a perfect woman. Rosy, sweet and delicious. Structured and serious but graceful, fun and affordable.
