Ross Estate Lynedoch 2006, Barossa Valley, South Australia
South Australia, Australia$19.90
Even though it has a tad of artificial flavour to it, I can't deny how well made and delicious it is. I love how Ross Estate wines are full bodied, but fresh on the palate. So much flavour & structure is packed into this wine for the price. Amazing QPR!
Concha Y Toro Serie Riberas Gran Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon 2009, Do Marchigue, Ribera Del Tinguiririca
Colchagua Valley, Chile$17.95
Lovin this wine! Both the nose and palate are impressive. It's a big fruity wine that not shy on oak, but it's contained with incredible balance. Terroir meets crowd pleaser? $15 bucks and hits 90 pts for real. Nice job.
Pondview Bella Terra Cabernet Franc 2009, VQA Four Mile Creek, Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$28.00
Get down to the winery and taste the 2010 vintage release... it's hands down the best single varietal Cab/ Franc I have every had. Packed with terroir driven fruit and earthiness, it's smoky and delicious. It has incredible concentration of fruit & remains perfectly balanced. Impressive and complex.
Viña Tarapacá Gran Reserva Carmenère 2010, Maipo Valley, Chile
Maipo Valley, Chile$17.95
This wine is a beast. You need to decant it for a good three hours to unveil its excellence. Real firm tannins and structure. A stiff backbone.
Terre Di Rubinoro Vino Nobile Di Montepulciano 2006, Docg
Tuscany, Italy$17.95
A beautiful wine, Rioja similarities. Nose and taste: Slightly spicy cherry, cinnamon, clove, sandalwood or light oak saw dust. Super smooth on the palate, sexy smooth, a hint of sweetness but dry and structured. Loved it. 92 pts
Tormaresca Trentangeli 2012, Doc Castel Del Monte
Puglia, Italy$19.95
This is a wonderfully balanced wine with suave tannins. Packed with blueberry, vanilla and smokey dark roast coffee. Medium weight. Super super fine tannins make a sandpaper finish.
Las Rocas Garnacha 2009, Do Calatayud
Spain$15.00
2009 vintage is alot better than those previous of this wine. This wine tastes great and has the complexity of a Gigondas. 15 bucks...great buy!
Tawse Cabernet Franc Icewine 2010, VQA Niagara Peninsula (200ml)
Ontario, Canada$23.25
Lush and sweet with loads of flavour - strawberry rhubarb jam with hints of herbs and spice. Really an explosion of flavours in your mouth. It would have benefited from a tad more acidity and tannin to balance out the sweetness.
Henry Of Pelham Reserve Baco Noir 2009, VQA Ontario
Ontario, Canada$24.95
Not sure if there's a better Baco noir made on the planet. It rustic but smooth showing sweet and sour cherries, smoky plum, leather, mud, wet leaves -medium to full bodied silky tannins - its beyond well made - it's perfectly balanced & structured. Oh Yaaaaaaaaaaaaa the right stuff!
Château Le Conseiller 2005, Ac Bordeaux Supérieur
Bordeaux, France$26.00
If you still have a bottle of this kicking around in your cellar give it a go. Wow so structured and fine. I could blab on and on… But some things are better left to the imagination. Simply amazing.
