Pirramimma Shiraz 2006, Mclaren Vale, South Australia
Australia$24.95
big and juicy like all of their wines, it is packed with juicy rich fruit and really well made...but make no mistake...this is a huge huge wine...MASSIVE!
Domaine Terlato & Chapoutier Lieu Dit Malakoff Shiraz 2010, Pyrenees
Victoria, Australia$35.25
Well made, smooth & structured. interesting and mind provoking...black pepper, blueberry, cherry, violets,tobacco..etc... the palate is super smooth but flavours turn to sour or expired chocolate, leather (lots of leather) gamey almost???...weird...but enjoyable...not a blockbuster, for the wine nerd.
The Balvenie 12 Y O Doublewood, Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Scotland, World$130.40
Thought this would have been a lot richer and smoother. Not totally impressed here for the price. Much cheaper options out there in my opinion.
La Velona Brunello Di Montalcino 2009, Docg
Tuscany, Italy$39.95
Nose offers smoky vanilla, herbs and spices. Very dry on the palate - cherry tobacco follows. It's thin to medium bodied and well knit. A good decant is needed to open this little devil up.
Bowmore 12 Years Old Islay Single Malt, United Kingdom
Scotland, World$75.95
Tastes like Ozonol cream or a Band-aid.
Writers Tears Pot Still Blend (700ml)
Ireland, World$49.95
loved it. Vanilla, caramel, honey and peach notes. Really smooth.
Norman Hardie County Unfiltered Pinot Noir 2011, VQA Prince Edward County
Ontario, Canada$35.00
Well for me, it just doesn't get any better for $35 BUCKS. This is a Beautiful expression of Pinot Noir. Lots of fresh wild raspberries and blackberries. Nicely integrated funky earthiness and a seductively suave body. This wine has it all!
Volker Eisele Cabernet Sauvignon 2006, Napa Valley
California, Usa$56.25
agreed - blackberry, current, cassis, cedar. This wine appears to be light but then tricks you on the palate into being full bodied. The tannins are like sand paper on your tongue - it's incredibly structured & dry. A really serious wine, that reminds me of Girard wines from Napa. One of the best bordeaux blends i've had in a long while. Cab/Sauv Cab/Franc & Merlot
Norman Hardie County Unfiltered Pinot Noir 2013, VQA Prince Edward County
Ontario, Canada$45.20
It's pretty amazing someone in Ontario (PEC) can aspire to such an elegant, luscious, suave, balanced and sophisticated Pinot Noir. The only issue here is the price, but I guess Pinot is over priced in most markets.
